Well, third time is a charm as they say. Not getting the shooter they wanted, however it's hard to argue with finally putting a real huge young talent next to LeBron. His defense, ball handling, rebounding and scoring are going to be a HUGE relief for King James and Cleveland, you're getting a hell of a player.

Sounds great to me! His defense is exactly what this team needed, and outside shot is good enough for me! Now let's get a PG and get Z back in here and we'll then be set.

You've got two really versatile guards playing next to each other and it will be exciting to see them play next to each other. Even though I thought Johnson was the best guard available, the Cavs saved there offseason by stealing Hughes from the Wiz. Now they need to find a sharpshooter, maybe Kyle Korver?

This will definitely make the Cavs better. Hughes has a solid all around game and he could be a perfect compliment for LeBron's game. Yes, the Cavs still need a sharp shooter, no it should not be Korver King intends on resigning him. Also, how will the Wizards fill the whole they'll have after Hughes is leaving? That will hurt them because Hughes did so much for them.

Wow, great move by the Cavs. IMO Hughes is better than Redd. Now if they get Z back and get a good PG they'll have a killer team.

    PG - ?
    SG - Larry Hughes
    SF - LeBron James
    PF - Drew Gooden
    C - Big Z

Wow. I can't believe Larry left Washington. Great pick up by the Cavs.

Larry can score, tends to try to do too much during crunch time, but he has a thing for stealing the ball. Good signing, we're going to miss him in Washington.

Hughes can actually play a lick of defense unlike Korver. Korver isn't anything but a backup SG in my eyes...

About time we got someone after missing out on Redd and Allen. Only thing thing that could have made this off season better would have been getting Nate McMillan.

Hughes is a above average defender but saying Korver can't play defense shows how much you have seen him play,he ain't no lockdown defender like Bowen but he gets those defensive rebounds and makes great hustle plays (once allmost broke his nose diving on the floor) like Mark Madsen,he tries to make a difference on the defensive end despite him being slower than other SF's.Ofcourse he's supposed to be a backup but as a Sixer he's a starter.
Few years ago when Larry signed with Wizards I thought like "what the hell,Wizards don't need a SG" but now I like the combo of James and Hughes, both can play different positions and make things happen on the offensive end.

The Cavaliers definitely made themselves a better team, and with the return of Luke Jackson, the need for an outside shooter might be diminished. Hughes gives Cleveland a great defender and someone who could draw some pressure off of Lebron on the offensive end. If the Cavs re-sign Ilgauskas and Gooden becomes consistent, Cleveland would have a great shot of making the playoffs.

I dont understand this move by the Cavs. Hughes is a good player but IMO he should of been the fifth option for the Cavs behind in this order...

    1)Allen
    2)Johnson
    3)Redd
    4)Mobley
    5)Hughes

Larry is not a 3 point threat which is the big thing they needed. He's also had more durability and consistency issues than anyone else on that list. At 13-14million per season i definetely think they overpayed for him. I'd put his value at around 9-10 million per season. Mobley and Johnson can both give you defense while both being far far superior at a perimeter offensive game.

That said he's a good player, very young with tons of natural talent, and you can never have to many good players no matter what their strengths or weaknesses. I just feel they could of made a better move in terms of addressing team needs.

Your right, the only time I ever watched Korver play was his days with Creighton and he didn't play a lick of defense there. I never knew he would become a defensive threat at the next level, though. I just don't think Korver is needed on this team that now has 3 capable shooters in Luke, Sasha, and now Hughes. We need to focus on getting a PG(Daniels or Jones), and work on getting Z back.

I'd add Bobby Simmons to your list also 02Civic. Ok, I thought $12Million was a stretch, but now his salary is a reported $13Million to $14Million. I guess the overpaying trend is back in basketball. If it's really $14Million he's making more money than Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Shawn Marion, Elton Brand, Steve Francis, and Baron Davis. Congrats to Larry and his agent.

You know, when I first heard this I was skeptical. $12 million for Larry Hughes? [IMG] And then I thought about all the injuries that he's had; he always seems to sit out almost 20 games a year. When it comes down to it, though, I think I kind of like this move by the Cavs. Is he an injury risk? Probably. Is he overpaid? Certainly. Is he a player who is an above average defender who will take pressure off of LeBron and be able to grow with him? Definitely. I think that there are some sure negatives to the Cavs doing what they've done to get Hughes, but there are big time positives, too. I didn't particularly like Hughes in Washington, but I think he's going to be a great fit next to LeBron. He's a legit #2 for a superstar, and assuming he stays healthy, he still has plenty of upside. Hughes isn't a dig in guy, but he's very clever on defense and gets a lot of steals due to his hustle and athleticism. That should be a key. He can help LeBron jump start the Cavs' running game with turnovers and he's a very solid passer for a 2 guard. If the Cavs can just get themselves a defensive minded point guard now (Watson or Daniels) they will be in very good shape for next season. I can see Hughes going for about 20 ppg, 6 rpg and 5 apg with 2+ steals. Even with all the negatives, I can't help but kind of like this move by the Cavs. [IMG]

Hughes isn't that good of a shooter. Jackson hasn't proved himself to be a good shooter in the NBA. Pavlovic is an ok shooter, nothing special. This team still need's a consistent 3 PT shooter. They need to bring in a good 3 PT shooter and not someone who is only a specialist ala Wesley Person, someone who can do more than just shoot.

I'm upset Hughes left a good thing with the Wiz...i was so looking forward to watching them next season. Oh well, wish him the best of luck and that he meshes well with Bron.

I like what Hughes adds as a defender the most, we should lead the league in steals and I also like that he can play some point. We don't need a top notch pg to be one of the best passing teams in the league with Larry playing the 2 and LBJ playing the 3.

If the Cavs sign Simmons, then they will be a solid Eastern contender.

    PG - Larry Hughes
    SG - LeBron James
    SF - Bobby Simmons
    PF - Drew Gooden
    C - ??? (Don't know if they have enough money to re-sign Z)
