<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">FORT MILL - Keith Bogans sure sounds like a guy who's found a home with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Bogans, a restricted free agent, isn't playing with the Bobcats' summer-league team. But he is working out with the team's coaches this week, and expects to be back next season.

Bogans doesn't have a deal, but he and coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff said this should work out. A stocky 6-foot-5 shooting guard, Bogans was one of the Bobcats' better defenders on a team hurting for stoppers.

Bickerstaff has emphasized re-signing his players over fishing for players off other teams. He said he's made no overtures to free agents off other rosters.

He plans to leave for Las Vegas and Los Angeles next week to meet with agents for various Bobcats free agents. He said he anticipates re-signing several players, including point guard Brevin Knight and shooting guard Matt Carroll.

Carroll is a restricted free agent, but he's agreed to play for the Bobcats' summer-league team. The earliest free agents can sign contracts with NBA teams is July 22, and that date could be pushed back as the league and the players association finish the new collective bargaining agreement.</div>

I like Bickerstaff's long term plan. He's building talent and creating consistency, and keeping patient so he'll have cash to spend when the players he wants are available. In the meantime, he's stocking up on some nice talent through the draft and lottery picks. All of these things will help him out when he's getting players in the future.
