Yes he will, they won't pay $9.4 million/yea just to have him come off the bench. Like already said, DMase is better coming off the bench, and he isn't really an ideal SF anyways, so it's a good move either way.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I disagree.I wouldnt give a team that much credit for giving out ridiculous contracts. They'll be good, but the two new contracts theyve given out are just dumb.Getting Bobby Simmons doesnt really even make sense for the bucks</div>

You couldnt be more incorrect. You can not consider the Bucks overpaying for their players, when 1. at least 4 other teams were willing to throw that kinda money at Michael Redd. 2. There were even more teams than that willing to offer up the money for Simmons.

You have to look at the roster, the length on the contracts and the whole picture. The Bucks now have in place, Redd, Bogut, Simmons, and Ilyasova for at least the next 4 years and Ford and Mason for 2 more minimum.

Getting Simmons makes perfect sense for the Bucks. They have no bench to speak of, and Desmond Mason has throughout his career, been an excellent, if not the best, 6th man over the last 3 seasons. Simmons is a far better outside shooter, a better ball handler and passer, and is a superior rebounder. Mason has the edge on D and dunking, but dont underestimate Simmons on the defensive side. Also add in that Simmons is 2 years younger and if Mason muttles on the bench and is in disdane, you would have a huge number of takers come the trade deadline. It also makes the team look even that much more attractive to potential buyers, which Herb has the Bucks once again on the market. If you have a solid linup of the following, you are going to do some damage.

    C-Andrew Bogut
    PF-Joe Smith
    SF-Bobby Simmons
    SG-Michael Redd
    PG-TJ Ford
    6th-Desmond Mason
    7th-Mo Williams
    8th-Ersan Ilyasova
    9th-Erick Strickland

5 of the 9 players there are under 25, and Mason and Smith have not yet reached 30. Young, talented, explosive and can shoot from the inside-out.

^I know Simmons is a good player.Youre right about Simmons making sense for the Bucks.I thought Simmons was a 2 guard and they were going to have him play the 3.Hes actually a 3.My mistake.I cant see how giving Redd more money than Ray Allen makes is a good move,no matter what the circumstances.

    I'm finally back [IMG]

I couldn't believe this when I first heard it, and now that I know it's true, I have a couple of comments:

    1) Wow, that is a lot of money for a player who has only been a legit starter for one year, and it was with the Clippers...Well, as we've seen, young players are getting ridiculous contracts all around, and to stay competitive, I guess we have to overpay, too.

    2) What becomes of Desmond Mason? I know that he's a team first guy, willing to accept a 6th man role, and very able to be, once again, one of the best 6th men in the league. I just hope like crazy that us signing Simmons doesn't mean that Mason is on the trading block; that'd be a HUGE mistake. He gives great energy and hustle, and he's one of the few guys on the team who plays any D.

    3) Wow, we might be really good next year [IMG]
With a proven 20 ppg guy in Redd, two solid complementary scorers in Mason and Simmons, a developing stud in the paint in Bogut and hopefully the healthy return of this team's sparkplug, we have to be considered playoff contenders. Hopefully Stotts can get the boys to play some D, and that T.J comes back healthy and ready to run and gun like he did as a rookie.

All in all, I'm very excited about the Bucks next year. While there are certainly questions, (how good will Stotts be? is Simmons a 1 hit wonder now that he's paid? will T.J be healthy?) there has got to be optimism about this team. GO BUCKS! I'm glad to see that Mr. Kohl has actually decided to open his pocket book!!! [IMG]

I rest assure he he will not be. I've known Bobby since we were 16. (you think the Atlanta Celtics had a good AAU team with Howard, J. Smith and Morris, in summer of '97, we had a senior filled squad of myself, Quentin Richardson, Bobby Simmons and Corey Maggette) He's worked his ass off his whole life and had always been behind someone's shadow. His numbers increased every year in the "L" thus far, and only got better with playing time. This is no Tim Thomas signing. He also has to be the most unknown member of Team Jordan, and has been since he was a camp counselor during our college days. His blue collar work ethic and the desire this kid has to succeed, win, and produce will not be matched by anyone on the team. LA is too flashy for him. He's low key, will be an excellent community asset, a locker room guy, and would thrive in Milwaukee. He's going to give the Bucks a solid 15 and 5 for years to come.

This should not even be in question. It's not like it was a "contract year" that made him suddenly explode, Bobby has been on his contract year every year he's been in the league. He was even in the NBDL for a while. Bobby is just a great worker, when he was a Wizard, Jordan loved hsi work ethic and defensive abilities, and said if he was a more naturally talented guy, he could be very good.

Bobby has put in the work, and will continue to put in the work, he's definately not a Mark Blount or some idiot like that.

That's awesome stuff to hear, guys, and it helps me rest assured that the Bucks made a great signing. Thanks for the info, and here's to seeing Bobby in an All Star game before long. [IMG]

The Bucks are for real next year, I went into last year disregarding 4 teams, the Bucks, the Jazz, the Sonics, and finally the Clippers (permanent residents in the category, I think Shaun Livingston is just tall and not particularly tallented) the sonics proved me wrong but that's it. This year I dono what to think, they're are no teams I just feel bad about, The Knicks are hopeless for a few years, uhh Bobcats still need to grow, and uhh, I think Deron is good but he is NO John Stockton, the Jazz need to do a lil bit more, oh and finally the raptors because that GM is the most retarded guy ever. But the point is the bucks are off the lisdt and I think should be a contender.
