<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Daniels interested in Lakers: With Larry Hughes opting Friday to leave Washington and sign with Cleveland, Antonio Daniels moved up one spot on the list of unsigned free-agent guards. And one of the teams at the top of Daniels' list of potential destinations will be the Lakers. "It's intriguing to him," agent Tony Dutt said. "He likes the makeup of the team. Obviously, getting Phil back has a lot to do with it. We definitely like that situation." Dutt said Daniels likely will make a decision about where to sign by the end of next week. He has heard from 15 teams, with the strongest interest coming from Cleveland, the Lakers, Miami, Utah and Toronto.</div> Source
If the Cavs want AD bad enough he will sign there, due to the fact they can offer more money. The talk all off-season has been that AD is on his way to Cleveland. Although there is also talk that the Cavs main point guard option is Sarunas Jasikevicius, so who knows..
He'd be a huge upgrade over Chucky Atkins and I'd love this signing. A Daniels/Bryant backcourt would be sick, with Lamar at the 3 and Turiaf at the 4, and Mihm is very servicable at the 5 with this lineup.
Not as good as Chucky <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post">He'd be a huge upgrade over Chucky Atkins and I'd love this signing. We need a guard that can play D and shoot the three.
I would love to have a defensive guard that can shoot the three and has great handles. I don't know if Daniels is that guard.
if we sign him, i only want to give him 2 or 3 years on his contract. he's already 30, so if we sign him to long term, lets say 5 years or so, he'll be here when he's 35.

That is the big deal, he is a good defender, a much better one than Atkins. It's not always about stats, we don't need someone to come in here looking to score...we have Kobe, Caron, and Lamar for that. We need someone to play defense and distribute the ball...something Daniels can do.

with butler possibly going, we need daniels with the recent talks about a kwame-butler trade, we might really need AD. he could fill in the spot that Phil was hoping for in butler (scottie pippen-like ball handling and role). AD can handle the ball really well with a nice height (compared to chucky). AD can shoot too, and i think he would be more consistent than chucky last season. BUt if the kwame-butler trade won't push through, there's no need for daniels; but given that the lakers ARE interested in him (daniels)...laker's lineup next season: PG Daniels SG bryant SF odom PF brown C bynum
Mihm will start over Bynum. Bynum is too raw to start for us, we would get shredded in the front court...we could play Kwame at the C (if the trade does go down) and Turiaf at the 4 if Phil doesn't want to start Mihm.
The Cavs will get Sarunas as their PG and will pursue another big man to be a dirty player like Tractor Traylor was last year.
This lineup doesn't look very appealing. In fact i think we should dangle both Caron and Lamar out there just to see what their value is.
hm...the way bynum is playing in SPL, yeah i think it would be either kwame or mihm in the starting C. but most likely to be mihm. PG Daniels SG Bryant SF Odom PF Brown C Mihm --all young, athletic, appealing. although i can't say the same for the bench.
We most likely just lost Chucky Atkins to Washington, so we now need Antonio Daniels because Sasha is no where near ready to be in this league....
reports say daniels is interested in portland, not lakers. daniels and the lakers met but no deal was done..so who's left? they could trade george for a PG..
