sounds like we have some good young talent on the team. I think if Simien is healthy is he will be a rookie first teamer. Off night for Dorell, but he can shoot much better than that. Barron sounds like a good prospect, lets see what happens the rest of the summer league.
I like Marlon Parmer he used to go to New Mexico and I live where they play and I really like him he is a great scorer and a tremendous player but he got in a fight with coach Ritchie McKay and he transfered, shucks. Well anyway he is a great player. Simien had a good game, can't wait to see him play during the season.
Just got back from the SPL, I only watched a little of the Heat and Mavs play. I sat two seats away from Stan Van Gundy, he kept getting approached by kids, (half had no idea who he was) for autographs. It was amusing watching the head coach of the Heat autograph Kobe Bryant jerseys. Another Heat who showed up for support was Dwayne Wade. People ran from end to end following him around, hounding for autographs it was ridiculous. Wayne Simien looks very comfortable on the court and is a rock. Another rookie who was very impressive was Juan Mendez. I'm not sure if he makes the Heat's final roster, but he is insanely aggressive. Just to give you an idea of the energy he has, in the warm ups he power jammed every time it was his turn in the layup drill. Then when it was his turn to rebound a layup, he'd sprint to the basket. Everyone else is just jogging and loosening up, and Juan is sprinting and bouncing around all over the place. He looked like he pounded a six pack of Red Bull, the guy could not stand still for a second. Dorrell Wright put on more muscle and looked very smooth on the court and ready to play in the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised if the Heat let him breakout this year. I could see him getting some solid minutes as the 6th or 7th man off the bench.
I heard Mendez was upset for the Raptors not drafting him, Raptors invited him to their SL team, but he denied them and joined the Heat's SL team.
Wayne Simien is doing great. He should compete with Haslem for the minutes at Power Foward. Good Job Selecting Simien.
Simien seems to be playing very well. If he continues to play this well it looks as if their will be a competion for whos starting pf between him and haslem.
The heats bench looks great this season, the best teams always have a strong bench lineup to rely on.
Wow impressive work by Simien, Im excited hes on our team now we have two solid powerforwards. The Heat have some great young players in Simien, and Dorell and theyll help us when Shaq is retired
Heat Summer League Game 2 GAME 2 (Mon. July 11.) <font color="Red">Heat </font> vs <font color="RoyalBlue">Dallas Mavericks</font> Heat Win 95-87 EARL BARRON scored 27 points on 10/12 shooting. 7/8 (FT) 12 (REBS) 2 (BLOCKS) I had never heard of this guy but the 7 footer seems determined to make the squad. Notables: Wayne Simien scored 13 points on 5/12 shooting & 8 Rebs. Dorell Wright scored 12 points on 6/9 shooting. Qyntel Woods scored 9 points on 4/10 shooting. Marlon Parmer (1/5) & Matt Walsh (4/12) both had 9 points. LINK http://www.summerproleague.com/7-11(3).htm
Simiens been a beast thus far in summer league play. If this is any indication of how he's going to play in the NBA (not saying he is) than I feel fine letting Udonis leave for his 33+ million.
Strange, I wonder why Juan Mendez didn't get any burn in this game. He looked amped during the warmups.
Heat Summer League Game 3 GAME 3 (Wed. July 13.) <font color="Red">Heat</font> vs <font color="Orange">L.A. Lakers</font> Heat Lose 89-90 EARL BARRON scored 24 points on 9/15 shooting and 12 Rebs. (including 6/6 FT) This guy has been putting up great numbers. Dropped 27 and 12 last game! I thought the Heat would be picking Barron up instead of Matt Walsh. Wayne Simien scored 20 points on 9/14 shooting & 8 Rebs. <font color="RoyalBlue">LINK</font> http://www.summerproleague.com/7-13(4).htm
