Don't you guys think getting tyson chandler would give yao some great weak side rebounding and defense he would be a great fit. (yao and tyson jump ball)
I don't think they can offer as much as the Bulls. I'm taking it this is just an idea of yours, because I havn't heard anything about the Bulls and Chandler being linked.
The Bulls are threatening to match any offer that Chandler gets, and what they have done has successfully scared teams off of Chandler. I could see Chandler do what Stromile Swift and play one more year and become an unrestricted free agent, if no favorable offers come his way. Chandler would be a great fit for the team, providing defensive and offensive rebounding, defense, and a good shotblocking weak side defender. However, chances of him going to Houston is very limited as Houston only has the MLE and would have to administer a sign and trade deal to have a realistic shot of landing Chandler.
But the Bulls have also said they would match any offer for Eddy Curry. Can they afford to match for both players who play similar positions? Curry has visitted Atlanta, but that doesn't change the fact that Bulls said they would match. Trip is right, the Bulls have made comments about Chandler to scare of other teams, so that the Bulls could resign him for cheaper. There is no loss in negotiating with Chandler; if the Bulls match then we don't lose anything other than an opportunity.
Curry said, he see's himself playing for Atlanta next year. I feel pretty bad for him then. I doubt Bulls will get Curry.

Also Paxson says he will match any offer on Curry depending on whether he gets insurance for his irregular heartbeat.

Chandler is the better low post defender, and shot blocker he is the guy who gets the rebounds, and gets his buckets from doing the dirty work down low. He does not have as good a post up game as Curry, and is not as good of a low post thread he will not draw any double teams on offense, because although he has size he has no shot or moves to go to the basket. If you are looking for defense he is whom you take. Eddy Curry is the better offensive player the teams leading scorer, and anchor on offense. He is who a lot of plays are run through and does draw a couple double teams a game opening things up for Gordon and Hinrich on the perimeter. He does not rebound as well though with his height and size he only averaged like five or six rebounds a game last season. The Bulls have the cap room to resign both since most of the guys on the team are on their rookie contracts. The whole starting lineup is on their rookie contract with the exception of Antonio Davis. Also Davis? contract expires soon giving them even more cap room. If any other team offers Chandler a contract I think it would be best for the Bulls because then they would not have to offer him the most amount of money and would most likely save a few million even if the max is offered to him.
As much as I would love to see Chandler in a Rockets uni, theres no way its happening...I think he'll stay with Chicago...I myself think he has more potential and value than Curry...I see Curry going to Atlanta, and for some reason, I think the Rockets have a great shot at landing Swift, who I think is the same type of player as Chandler, and has even greater potential...

Swift's going to be twenty six next season or something like that and will be reaching his peak in the next two years. Chandler meanwhile, is only twenty years old and has at least seven years to grow and develop- big difference. However, I've got to agree with you that we're not getting Chandler. Chicago's pretty much scared all the suitors away and have all but signed him in my opinion. Still, he'd be a great addition.
