It's supposed to be a 5 year $42 million deal [IMG], isn't he now making more than Maggette? Wow, just wow, the market price for players is just getting ridiculous.

What a horrible contract. 8+ Million for Mobley is ridiculous.

Huh? The Clippers didn't want to sign a younger more promising player in Bobby Simmons for $9.4 Million, yet they are dishing out $8.4 Million to Cuttino Mobley. Typical retarded Clipper move. What makes even less sense is why they drafted a future SG in Korolev if they plan on locking up Mobley as a 5 year starter?

I believe Korolev can play SF as well, but I agree, typical stupid Clipper move.

wow this is very surprising to me! Cat is a great player but not worth that money! Why would the clips want a 8 year veteran that won't change his stupid shot selection?! NO offense to the clips but that must be one of the more retarded moves they have ever made!

    Cuttino is a Clipper

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Free agent shooting guard Cuttino Mobley has agreed to sign a five-year contract worth about $42 million with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to a source close to Mobley.

He split last season between Orlando and Sacramento and opted out of a contract that would have paid him about $6.4 million next season with the Kings. Mobley averaged 17.2 points per game last season.

I guess the Clippers figure they can win now (I don't where thy got that idea). Their roster looks pretty solid actually.

    PG- Shaun Livingston
    SG- Cuttino Mobley
    SF- Corey Maggette
    PF- Elton Brand
    C- Chris Kaman

That isn't a bad lineup and the Clipps finally get the perimeter shooter they need in their starting lineup. He will probably fill the role that QRich filled when he was on the Clippers.

Not to sound rude or anything, but start reading the forums before you post articles. You've posted an article that has already been posted at least 3 times already.

The other ones were talking about the Clippers talking to Mobley and that he is probably going to sign with them. This article makes it official. Next time I will post it in same thread.

Not really, Mobley is not even close to the level of Kobe or any of the top SG's.

I don't know, with the Lakers getting Phil, Kwame, and likely someone else, they right now look to be the better team. We'll see how things progress.

I'm a rockets fan, so I saw Mobley grow into the player he is. I think it's a EXCELLENT pick up for the Clippers. Obcourse he's no Kobe, but he's good enough to challenge Kobe. He's a competitor, and he's ice water in the clutch. Also he's a very underrated defender. He's definitley better than QRich.

I don't think anyone will be questioning his talent, but rather his contract. He is way overpaid for what he has done in his career so far.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LOS ANGELES (AP) -- When games were on the line in the closing seconds last season, the Los Angeles Clippers didn't always have a go-to guy. Cuttino Mobley could change that.

``Last year, we had 16 games or more that we lost by three points or less,'' Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said Wednesday at a news conference to announce Mobley's signing as a free agent.

``It comes down to a final possession. Unfortunately, he was the cause of one or two of those games, with one or two seconds left on the clock.''

The same day they signed Mobley to a five-year, $42 million deal, the Clippers renounced the rights to oft-injured guard Kerry Kittles and Rick Brunson, also a guard.

Mobley, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, believes he can help the Clippers make the playoffs.

``They had 16 games where they lost by the skin of their teeth. Some of those games we can make up, and more games we can just win,'' said Mobley, a left-hander who averaged 17.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 66 games for Sacramento and Orlando last season.

``I've watched them (the Clippers) and played against them, and Corey (Maggette), Elton Brand, (Chris) Kaman, all those guys play extremely hard. I guess I'm the final missing piece.'' </div>

    Is Mobley the missing piece?

If they stay healthy, I don't see why can't contend for a playoff spot.
