In leading the Grizzlies to a 108-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, Roberts scored 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. He also went 13-of-14 from the free-throw line.

Through three summer league games, Roberts is averaging 16.7 points and 13.0 rebounds per game.

Frontcourt mate Hakim Warrick scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.

The Mavericks were led by David Logan's 20 points. Keith Langford scored 19.

The Grizzlies, who improved to 3-0 on the summer, outrebounded Dallas, 50-37. </div>

Lawrence Roberts was pissed he went so late in the draft and is out to prove he's better than the 54 people selected ahead of him. So far he's off to a great start, he's been a beast in the SPL.

Hakim Warrick also looks like the real deal, he's averaging a double-double thus far.

Wow, he's owning everyone in the Summer League, I knew he would be awesome, but not this awesome. He would have been a first-rounder last year.

Well fortunately for VC, West is in the last year of his contract and plans to retire.

Wow, West is a whole lot smarter then some ppl thought...I know he is going to be a great player. Being a fan of the SEC I was able to see him play on a regular basis. What did the grizz give up 2 get him 2 2nd rounders?

He was a steal in the draft.

Don't hold your breathe on Roberts just yet. Bo Outlaw once dropped 45 points and pulled down 20 or 30 rebounds in a summer league game.

I'm not discounting Roberts, I liked him in college and he was definitely a steal. However, let's not put unrealistic expectations on him because of a few outstanding performances in meaningless games.

How could you present these as meaningless games when some people are trying to play themselves onto a team??? Sure these dont mean much to Kobe and LeBron but to the little man these games are for all the marbles.

They are completely meaningless. I'm not sure if you've attended an actual game, but no one is going 100%. It's pretty casual out there and teams already know who is going to make the pre-season squad and who isn't. The games are not competitive at all and the final boxscore is VERY deceiving because of it. The 'little men' know going in they are auditioning more for the NBDL or overseas teams, and not auditioning to make it in the NBA.

I agree with Shapecity, Sir Charles, and whoever else thinks these games are meaningless. Putting up big numbers on a player like Moussa Diagne (whoever the hell that is) doesn't mean anything. I don't think he could put up half those numbers on Ben Wallace, or even Ryan Humphrey for that matter. Don't call me wrong for disliking Jerry West just yet. I still do not see how Lawrence Roberts will crack our rotation over both Pau Gasol, Brian Cardinal, and whatever free agent big man we get this summer. I also think that we could have gotten him a lot cheaper than two second round draft picks. There were better players who were picked ahead of Roberts that were priced less than two second round picks.

In Robert's case,it's meaning the difference between the Griz now being eager to see him on the floor vs parking him on the bench. For guys like Petro,Marvin Williams,or Webster, its meaningless as they were early picks expected to only become good in a few years. Some of the never drafted types have such limited credentials,a fairly good game would seem a fluke, but quite a few players are going to a pre-season camp off these games, and some will launch a carreer-so for them it's not meaningless.

These games could have shown that Darko and Bender can step up and dominate in a loose game vs a mixed bag of talent-instead it reinforced the sense that they are underachieving headcases with little future.

    For many,sure,it's meaningless-they are in,or out,no matter what,but for some its a big deal.
