He mentioned that Monta Eliis will not be playing in the NBDL this year. He said that he needs to be around the older guys and he's impressed with the kid's tenacity. He said that basically he just needs to get stronger, but he already playes above the rim. KNBR.com might have it on the website. I'll check it out.

I always thought that the nbdl is basically for athletes with no game. The word is Montay's ahead of his years for a shooting guard, now he just needs to find out how to be a point guard. I'm sure being involved in practice with Baron and under a coach like Monty can improve that aspect of his game.

I heard the interview this morning on my drive up and it didn't come out exactly like that. He praised Monta's defense and tenacity and said the NBDL may not be the best way to hone his skills because he needs to get stronger but I never heard Monty say "Ellis will not be playing in the NBDL".

I didn't think anyone was going to the NBDL. Monta would be better off learning from the vets as Monty said, with all of these young players I am actually glad we have Monty who knows how to develop HSers.

Hey Upsidedownside, okay, I got the impression he wasn't really into it defensively. It could be old news and maybe he's really getting up for it because he's a 2nd rounder with no contract yet.

Hey welcome back Run BJM. Yeah I think Monty is the kind of guy that is hands on with developing his players. They're like his kids. I think he's going to garner a lot of respect once the Warriors start winning because he's there for them, rather than be the annoying "let's do it my way" kind of coach that alienates players. I'm thinking he's going to be a successful college coach sort of like a Larry Brown, but more like Maurice Cheeks (same low ego, but our guys will know who the coach is) once he feels comfortable in the NBA. He wasn't too comfortable being surrounded by all these millionaires who might have tremendous egos and trouble getting used to executing with memorized playsets. Luckily for us, the Warriors drafts of kids with good heads on their shoulder should make it easy for Monty. Monty really respects intelligent players who know the game and guys like Baron, Dunleavy, Murphy, JRich are all pretty knowledgeable players. This second year will be great.

He actually said, if the kid somehow works his way to getting no time on the floor and we absolutely can't find him minutes then we'll see. But he said that he Needs to be in the NBA, not in the Developmental league

That is good. Hopefully he will be getting more minutes than Fisher. Now I just wonder what is going on with Taft

On another board some guy lives in Vegas and has been out to every single W's summer league game.

-He said Monta is already the 2nd best defender on this team next to Pietrus. That's a pretty huge compliment. He said the staff loves him but he chucks up too many shots. He can get any shot he wants but unfortunately he takes them all.
-Elie grills Taft about getting tougher but Taft has responded with rebounding and finishing. He said Taft needs to get stronger in his neck & upper body but he is impressing the staff.
-Biedrins is actually is struggling. I'm not worried about him though. He's gained a lot of mass in his upper body.
-Diogu stats have been solid but sometimes plays into a lull. At times he's taken over a game at both ends but dissapeared later on. Diogu's getting a lot thrown at him and playing with 4 bigs doesn't help. I wouldn't take too much stock into that.
-Jawad Williams has supposedly stunk up the gym.
-Zarko has picked it up and is looking very good.

He said it seems like their trying to develop talent rather than win games. Their giving players ISO's and plays rather than ball movement and finding the open man.

    That's all he said.

Good too see that Ellis and Taft are doing well. Sucks that Biedrins and wiliams aren't doing to good. Diogu sounds good and Zarko well, he is Zarko
