According to Chad Ford in ESPN Insider, Raptors have shown interest in Kwame Brown and could put a package together that includes Morris Peterson and Donyell Marshall in a sign-and-trade deal. I think I'd do the trade in a heartbeat if the Wizards include Jarvis Hayes or a draft pick. It makes sense for both teams since the Wizards will need an off-guard after losing Larry Hughes, and we're in need of a centre. Technically we'll only be losing Morris Peterson in this deal because Marshall is as good as gone if he's not involved in a sign-and-trade. What do you think of this trade?
PG: Rafer Alston SG: Jalen Rose SF: Villy or Graham PF: Chris Bosh C: Kwame Brown 6th man: Villanueva or Graham Solid lineup with tons of potentiol.

PG: Ukic (6'6) SG: Rose (6'8) SF: Villanueva (6'11) PF: Bosh (7'0) C: Brown (7'0) 6th man: Graham (6'8) with a beast-like body and ability to grab boards at will. While I'm still hesitant to give up Mo-Pete, if he can get us a Kwame Brown then it's a no head-scratcher.
This would also be a good trade, because it would allow Bosh and CV3 to play positions they are comfortable with, without forcing one of them to play Center.

As much as I'm not worried too much about CV starting at centre, it'd definitely be better if we can have Kwame Brown playing there. If Babcock can pull this off without giving up a first round pick, he's a genius.
We shouldn't get too excited though. Ford has been known to make up BS rumors without any legit information.
This trade makes a lot more sense for both teams than the Wizards and Lakers deal. A potential frontline of CV3, Bosh, Kwame could be insane in a few years. The Raptors could afford to take this chance because they are likely losing Marshall for nothing, and Mo Pete is easily replacable.

With Larry Hughes bolting to Cleveland they need to replace his perimeter shooting, and Marshall gives them a new look by spreading the floor more evenly with his range and accuracy.
Plus, Mo-Pete can play a similiar role to Larry Hughes. He's a good perimeter defender, an effective slasher, good jumpshot (better 3 PT shot than Hughes). He also always stays healthy, something Hughes could never really do.
i would love to do this deal, but if we lose mo pete we'll basically only have 2 capable 3/2s Graham & Rose
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InstantReplay:</div><div class="quote_post">i would love to do this deal, but if we lose mo pete we'll basically only have 2 capable 3/2s Graham & Rose</div> CV would have to play small forward similar to what Lamar Odom has been known to do.
CV is a 3/4 naturally and it will be better than having to put him at centre. It also allows him and Villanueva to switch between SF and PF from time to time to confuse the opposing team's defense. If this deal pulls through, our frontcourt will be set for another 10 years with Brown / CB / CV.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InstantReplay:</div><div class="quote_post">I know brown can play center, but isnt he a natural PF?</div> He has enough athleticism and strength to play both. It really isn't that big of a deal. If he were to come to the Raptors, he would definitlely be a Center.
Sounds like this turning out to be another Chad Ford B.S. rumor. Apparently the deal is finalized with the Lakers and Kwame Brown will be meeting with Mitch Kupchak before it's announced.
I don't know about this. Acquiring Kwame will make the Raptors selection of Charlie V at 7 look even worse as well as the Hoffa selection (even thought it doesn't matter). Ultimately down the road, I would like to see CV and Bosh starting in our frontcourt (with CV playing the C) with Hoffa, Pape, Bonner and a future player (FA/Pick) being the backups. Kwame will command no less than a 6 million starting salary and an average near 8 million. That just seems a bit weird paying that much to come off the bench. I truly believe Villanueva will turn into a solid pro, possibly a better one than Brown, so I see no reason to acquire unproven big with potential while giving him a huge contract. EDIT: Thank you Shape...
I dont think it is going to happen if the wizards have to give a draft pick, maybe if they give a second round pick but not a first. I hope they do get rid of Kwame he is to much trouble for the Wizards and he is not even that good! It was a waste of a first pick if you ask me look at all the good players that went that year! Kwame is not NBA material yet. This trade will not help the raptors it would hurt them, but hey it will help the 'zards and that makes me happy thats my favorite team! GO WIZARDS
I didn't like this trade even before shape said it was false. Kwame would have commanded starting money when he's still a potential player. I have my doubts about him living up to his potential now. He's really relies on his athleticism and I doubt his motivation. Plus giving up Mopete leaves us with no decent defenders in our backcourt and a very thin 2 spot. It looks good on paper, but I doubt it would work out.
