In East you need at least 7/8 good players to make the playoff... this exactly what will happend after this trade... I hope we will make this opportunity... Alston Rose Graham Bosh Villanueva Hayes Brown A.Williams Ukic
ugh...i dont know guys. i dont think id be terribly upset if this deal doesnt go through. kwame looks good on our team on paper, but he's been injury prone...and his work ethic has been in question since he entered the L. not to mention he's a storybook underachiever. it would be nice to get something in return for donyell, but im not sure if im ready to part with our best perimeter defender
He's 'known' to have a poor work ethic and he's been labelled an underachiever because of MJ and Doug Collins. They expected too much out of him when they took him with the 1st overall pick out of high school and he just never got the chance to pan out. With Eddie Jordan he never got enough touches because EJ ran plays through his guards mostly and Kwame wasn't favoured by him. With Sam Mitchell and Chris Bosh, in a situation with a little pressure on him, I believe he will flourish.
Looks like Kwame is heading to LA for Atkins and Butler...... whether thats a good or bad thing for us, i dont know...
Yup.. I just read it on realgm.com.. Kwame Brown isn't going to flourish in LA with Phil Jackson as the coach and all the media following him around. I bet Odom will soon demand a trade because he was reportedly upset when Caron Butler trade rumours surfaced last February and he will be the only player left from the Shaq trade if Brian Grant gets bought out.
I don't what you guys are talking about. I think LA's probably the best situation for him. He's got possibly the best motivator in Phil Jackson, not to mention he's going to paired with another young big, so people will have to patient with them. It's probably better that he didn't land up in TO. I'm really happy we didn't go for that trade. I'm not high on Kwame at all. The kids got all the skills but doesn't play. There's no motivation. I understand what he went through as a rookie, but the Jordan excuses ran out 2 years ago. His breakout season is long overdue, and he's been given the minutes so he can't complain. I mean, his team actually thought they had a better chance in the playoffs when he didn't play which tells you a lot about him. And he still demands a large contract? The Raps already drafted one player who has admitted to a bad work ethic, and even though it looks like CVill's turned it around in summer league a guy like Kwame won't create a good atmosphere. The Raps locker room was a mess last year and its definitely not the best situation for Kwame. Sam Mitchell is good coach but when Kwame won't put in the effort (which I suspect he won't), Mitchell will get frustrated just like he has with Alston, Hoffa, Woods.
I agree with Chutney on this one; the Lakers will be a better environment for Kwame than the Raptors ever could have been. Phil Jackson, in my opinion, will do a better job of motivating Kwame (and giving him confidence after all he went through in Washington) than Sam Mitchell could. Plus, as already mentioned, the suggested trade would've left the Raptors short a shooting guard.

It'd been better for him if he went to a city where it's a little quieter and develop within himself. Phil Jackson is not good at motivating young players with bad attitudes. He is the best at getting the best out of a young player with a good attitude. (ie. Michael Jordan) Playing with Kobe and no real point guard isn't going to help either, because Kwame will barely get any touches and therefore degrade.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting The Versatile:</div><div class="quote_post">Man how many Power Forwards does Babcock want. i dont see Kwame as a legit center.</div> Well, he'd certainly be a step up from Araujo, wouldn't he be?
Of course, my point was as Babcock wants to sign pape and Bonner, plus bosh and Charlie and then ADDING Kwame to the mix we have 3 power forwards(excluding bosh) that are good at some aspects but have huge gaps in their games. Then if that happens we dont have a legit center and we have to play one of them at center.
I was never sure what to think about acquiring Kwame, he could turn out to be a cancer and mess up the Raptors. Or he could have turned out well I think we wouldn't have lost much in that trade, but this trade probably was a BS Chad Ford rumour.
Yeah I dont even think the Raptors have cap space to sign him, hes shown that he doesnt do what hes told, I would have never even thought of bringing him over to Toronto.
I'm just praying that Araujo somehow manages to become a legit centre next season. That way we can play Bosh and Villanueva at their natural positions and have Joey Graham and Rose or Peterson come off the bench. C: Rafael Araujo / Pape Sow / Loren Woods PF: Chris Bosh / Matt Bonner / Aaron Williams SF: Charlie Villanueva / Joey Graham / Lamond Murray / Eric Williams SG: Jalen Rose / Morris Peterson / Alvin Williams PG: Rafer Alston / Roko Ukic / Omar Cook (depends on if we waive someone)
L.A.'s already figured out that they ain't going to win now. It isn't New York: the team has already admitted that its going to take time when they drafted Bynum. And Phil Jackson is a great motivator and is good at getting players to work together despite their problems. Going to Toronto would have been a much worse scenario for Kwame than LA.
Wait, you guys want another young F/C? That's the only really solid position on the Raptors. I guess I can't see how giving up a solid swingman in exchange for another log to add to the jam benefits Toronto...

I guess time will tell but at least we didn't lose Morris Peterson!
