combination to support Kobe. That trio would have explosive offensive potential, and if you think about it both Odom & Kwame are exceptionally athletic/agile for their respective sizes and could keep a fast pace going. Phoenix proved this year that quick & athletic bigmen who run the floor can be deadly. Sort of like the freight train approach. And don't give me some crap like Nash runs the break better than Kobe. Kobe can do whatever the hell he wants because his talent level is in the stratosphere. Not sure if Odom will mesh in the half court game though (ie triangle), or whether or not Kwame has the work ethic to put up with Phil's rigorous system or Kobe's demanding style. Is anybody else feeling the Phoenix comparison or am I nuts? With Kwame/Odom/Kobe it seems like games would be won on OFFENSE, and there would be a lot of running involved -- even for the big men. PS Turiaf would fit that style great too based on the reports I'm hearing
i agree..i'm picturing an offense-packed lakers next season. i was against the butler trade bfore but i think kwame might be good for the team---just make sure they have a new PG on the way (daniels, or another)
Kwame and Odom should mesh easily. Odom is a team first player that loves to distribute the ball, I don't see any reason why they would have problems.
if we get daniels, thats a pretty solid roster. We all know kwame can play, otherwise he wouldn't have gone first. I mean you have one of the best players in the L ( # 8 ) along with two all-star potential players in kwame and Odom. Daniels would fit great and likes the looks of the roster, this will only add to that....

Kwame is suddenly an all-star potential player but he cant even start over Brendan Haywood. The guy is 23, if he were in the draft everyone would be saying that he is too old to learn to be effective anymore, why is there an exception just because he is on the Lakers? Anyway if the Lakers do sign Antonio Daniels it is a good starting lineup and very athletic.
He couldn't start over Brendan Haywood? Kwame played PF for the Wizards and Haywood played C for them, so...like I've told other people...don't speak about Kwame Brown if you've been blinded by the media...unless you've followed him his whole career, just don't speak about him because you sound ignorant.
"We all know kwame can play, otherwise he wouldn't have gone first" does anyone remember a certain other no 1 pick. a certain mr. olawakandi wasnt he a number one not too long ago. so before saying that he has to be good cause he was no.1 think of the candy man. By the way dosent any one think it strange that they are willing to trade atkins that means that daniels is close to making the deal. Bynum Kwame Odom Kobe Antonio if kwame can turn a leaf the future looks good. but i wouldnt keep my hopes up.
That's a good call on the Daniels thing...that he must be close to signing. Otherwise the lakers must have something planned ( or decided to give up) because right now they don't have a point gaurd. Unless Phil is envisioning a Magic Johnson tpe roll for Odom instead of a pippen one in which Lamar plays the point. But we all know that's not happening...Though Phil does like big gaurds. Anyways, yeah I think that the daniels thing must be happening otherwise they wouldn't have done this. One thign does concern me however....Daniels was reported today that he wants to follow Nate McMillan down I-5 to portland...This isn't good. He even met with them recently...sorry I dont' have a article to confirm that. Anyways, portland doesn't have enough money to throw at him I don't think, and they're already in love with Telfair so that shouldn't be too big an issue..

Peoplealways say he is the best passer on the team however I would be willing to argue that if Kobe were a pass first player he would easilybe the best passer..
FYI, last year Kobe was the best passer. His 6 assists average led the team. He would've had lots more if not for Chris Mihm's bad handle. Yet they still continue to criticize Kobe's "selfishness" and "not passing."

Picture him trying to keep up with Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Mike Bibby, Baron Davis etc. He would get torched. You also don't want to switch Kobe on those players because it's going to pick up fouls and use a lot of energy keeping up with them. On offense Luke Walton is a great passer, but he's still reluctant to take the open look, and this allows players to cheat on the double teams. I just don't understand why Luke Walton has not perfected a jump shot over the years. He must not be working hard enough in the off season and downtime because his jumper is inconsistent. Most of us have played basketball, and you can improve A LOT over one summer, if you work at it. With all the resources available to him he should be confident and consistent knocking down wide open jumpshots.
touch can't be taught, and luke walton simply doesn't have any touch. the thought of him at PG is embarassing...we need a little rocket. i like watson personally.

Thanks shape, Walton at PG does intrigue me because he does like to pass, he's a great passer and he's got pretty nice handles for a tall white guy. But the defensive liability is a problem...But if you think about it besides Iverson they're really aren't that many outstanding defensive PG's in the league that come to mind anyways. So somebody tell me about Earl Watson, I'm a huge NBA fan but I don't know much about this guy, how would he fit in the LA system? Advantages disadvantages?
