This is for all the people getting caught up in the Caron-Kwame hype. I was annoyed when I found out this trade was going to happen. But after a while of calming down, I realised that this isn't likely to happen. Its still just a rumour and nothing more. For all we know, someone else may be getting traded instead of Caron, or the deal may not happen. There is a bigger possibility of Caron staying than leaving. Nothing is official so don't get caught in the hype of this ridiculous deal.

Phil likes Caron, Phil has asked Caron to lose weight, become more versatile etc... Would Phil be saying these things if he Caron was leaving? Would Caron have turned up at the match against the Mavs in the summer league to see his new teammates if he was leaving? We have already seen how Lamar reacted with the Caron trade rumours. The LA staff know that Lamar won't be pleased and they know that him and Kobe are tight with each other.

Caron was being called the next Paul Pierce at one stage. He stepped up when Lamar left and now he is respected more and he has more confidence so he will perform better. Anyway, don't believe what the media say, they are just trying to cause more misery to Kobe and the Lakers.

Too bad the trade has already been agreed to in principle, it's a done deal...no going back...

Principle is JACK in the business world. Its only a deal when its on paper. Has Mitch confirmed the trade? Has anyone from the Lakers organisation confirmed the trade? We were meant to get KG, Paul Pierce, Carlos Boozer, Jason Kidd, Latrell Spreewell, some disgruntled all star. The list goes on. Nothing happened and nothing will happen.

I disagree with most of the names you mentioned. We were never even close to getting KG, Pierce, Kidd or Latrell. Boozer, on the other hand, is a classic example of nothing's official until its official.

Good call. The KG was something fans created, Paul Peirce is the same, playing the same spot as Kobe? That would've worked great...Anyways, your right...Principle means nothing. I'm still expecting Ray Allen to bolt down I-5 to play for Nate in Portland. It's funny though that some of you are so certain this trade will happen because it's been agreed to in principle, when one of the names you quote "Carlos Boozer" bolted just last summer after he agreed to sign with Cleveland. Anyways, your right I'm not sure why the lakers would do this trade. I like it, but as said- Caron is one of the few players Kobe likes and gets along with. And Lamar loves Caron...the only reason the lakers would pull this trade is if they have TREMENDOUS confidence that Kwame is going to turn into JO.

There is obviously something about Kwame that Kobe, Phil, and Kupchak don't see in Caron or they wouldn't be making this deal.

Also, Jerry West and Shaq were trying to recruit the guy...we're not the only ones that believe in his potential.

This is all great that there's a love-fest in the leageu's elite for this guy- but until he puts up numbers worthy of that love...this doesn't mean jack.

I agree that the KG, Paul Pierce ect... trades were nothing compared to the scale of this trade. If you think about it, would it make sense for Phil to go up at his press conference and praise Caron and then trade him? It makes no sense in telling him to become more versatile and to lose weight so he can play at point gaurd if they wanted to trade him. This trade may go down, but without Caron involved.

There are a few things that could prevent the trade from going down. Any of the three players could threaten to not report and hold out. Remember when the Lakers tried to trade Gary Payton last year and he threatened to retire instead of being a Celtic? It ended up costing the Lakers Marcus Banks, so the Lakers had received Jumaine Jones instead.

I doubt Caron Butler would pull a stunt like that, because he's a stand up person and is going to savor a chance to shine in Washington. With the Lakers he'd be forced to play out of position or come off the bench. Essentially holding him back from breaking out.

Chucky Atkins on the other hand is a knucklehead and I could see him trying to screw up this deal for the Lakers. He's in the final year of his contract and he's old, so he really doesn't have anything to lose by forcing a hold out. I could see him forcing the Wizards to waive him so he can get a chance to play for a team closer at a title shot. I'm sure that vacancy in the Miami Heat backcourt would grab his attention.

How do we know Caron is going to be traded. The only supposed official news is Kwame's agent who said Kwame's coming to LA. He didn't say who for though. Apart from the statement that he's coming to LA, there is no other official news. I'm praying this will work out and keep Caron in LA.

PG - Caron
SG- Kobe
SF - Lamar Odom
PF - Kwame Brown
C- Andrew Bynum

Who do you expect the Wizards to get if they trade Kwame without getting Caron or Odom?

All the reports have stated that it's Caron and Chucky for Kwame. Get over it, the Lakers are losing Caron Butler.
