<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In a rarity for a second-round draft pick, Ryan Gomes will enter his first season as a Boston Celtics with a bit of security. Based on his strong play in the Reebok Vegas Summer League, Gomes and the Celtics have agreed on a multi-year contract that sources said could pay close to $450,000 in its first year and $500,000 in the second. Gomes would then be eligible for free agency and the chance at a larger contract. The deal won't be announced until late next week because of salary cap rules. "We're reached an agreement in principle on a multi-year deal for Ryan," said Dan Tobin, one of Gomes' representatives in the talks. "We're thrilled. It's a great fit: Providence College's all-time leading scorer playing for the Celtics." Gomes was the 50th overall pick in last month's player draft. Unlike first- round picks who are guaranteed three-year contracts worth a minimum of $750,000 per year, second-round selections must make a team before receiving guaranteed money. The Celtics could have opted to let Gomes come to training camp in October and prove his worth, but both coach Doc Rivers and basketball operations boss Danny Ainge have been outspoken supporters of Gomes since draft night.</div> Source
Great move signing Gomes. He will help us out greatly this season. There was no doubt that we would sign him. Doc and Ainge are really impressed with him. I thought they would pay him more though. This has got to be one of the best drafts we've had.
I agree this years draft was great for us. And Gomes and Green are really going to help us for the future.
What a great sign that this team has this much faith in this particular player. This guy is really offering them the chance to prove what a team they can be in transition with toughness and length. He will only get better, and for a second rounder to be this well equipped, that's somewhat shocking. said it before, said it again IN DANNY I TRUST!
LoL, nice job Celtics for signing Gomes this quick. And I will definatly be looking foward to both Gomes and Green this season.
