<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Atlanta Hawks rolled out the red carpet Thursday when Bulls center Eddy Curry arrived for his two-day visit. The Hawks chauffeured Curry in a limo, booked him a suite in a five-star hotel and brought him to Philips Arena, where the restricted free agent was treated to a video on the arena's giant monitors of some of his high school heroics at Thornwood. ''That would be great to come here and try to fill that [low-post center] void [and] try to help rebuild this team,'' Curry told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. ''I had a lot of down times in Chicago. But for the most part, once you start winning, it all clears up and you feel good about your whole situation. ''They really had us thinking that once the season was over, they were going to lock their players up. This part I don't even worry about. I've just got to keep working hard, doing what I'm doing, getting myself right so when training camp comes around, I'm ready to go. Not thinking that far ahead, [but] I definitely think if I ended up here and had to go back to Chicago, they'd know what they were missing. They know how I do.'' Curry also talked and dined with general manager Billy Knight. Today, he will do more of the same and might get examined by Hawks doctors before he attends a concert by Destiny's Child. According to a league source, if Curry does not get examined today, he will on a second visit the Hawks are planning.</div> Link Is it just me or does it appear he is starting to warm up to the idea of being a Hawk more, because before the visit he said he would not even see himself any were but Chi-town. Now he does not seem to have that same optimism for his return to Chicago.
Yeah, it's starting to seem like he wants be a hawk more and more. This dosen't look good for the Bulls. Although in the end I believe Curry resigns with the Bulls. I dont think paxson is going to let him get away unless he dosen't get insurance on his irregular heartbeat.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bulls restricted free-agent center Eddy Curry returned from Atlanta on Friday with a smile on his face and maybe even an offer to consider. Curry is the only free agent the Hawks have brought in, reflecting a genuine interest by general manager Billy Knight. ''Billy would not have brought Eddy in if he was not really interested in him,'' a league source said. ''Remember that they have tendered a five-year, $70 million offer to [Phoenix Suns restricted free agent] Joe Johnson without having him to come in or take any physical. ''Billy is telling friends that he is confident that Eddy will pass the physical. He is more concerned about whether Eddy will be able to stay in shape, work hard and bring game every night than he is concerned about whether there will be problems getting his contract insured [because of Curry's irregular heartbeat].'' Curry's agent, Leon Rose, is hoping to get a multiyear deal paying Curry between $8 million and $10 million a year. What is uncertain is whether Knight at least put in an opening bid while Bulls operations chief John Paxson apparently is waiting to make sure Curry's heart is insured.</div> Story
It looks like where going to have to overpay for Curry. Atlanta is going offer him around $10 million a year.
If that's the only way to keep him, overpaying is not a bad idea, mainly just cuz he's a true center, but this really sucks, atlanta does have a promising team too, but the bulls drafted him and he should stick around and a championship is bound to fall into place sooner or later..
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Bulls are taking the conservative approach and letting the market dictate the values of Curry, Chandler and guards Chris Duhon and Jannero Pargo. Because players are worth only as much as teams are willing to pay, the Bulls are taking the smart business approach of refusing to bid against themselves. At the same time, Curry is being politically correct. He is not just whispering sweet nothings into the ears of Atlanta Hawks general manager Billy Knight, with whom he met Thursday; he is telling the world he loves Atlanta, thinks the Hawks have a good core to build with and would not mind being a part of the team. ''That's the whole business part,'' Curry told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. ''The Hawks are taking a gamble on whoever they bring in, and you're taking a gamble when you go somewhere else. The Bulls have to handle their business [and] do what they have to do. Hopefully, when it's all said and done, they make the right decision.'' Curry is happy a team other than the Bulls has expressed interest in his services. It's leverage he can use to get a better offer. The Cavaliers were interested in Curry before new general manager Danny Ferry convinced owner Dan Gilbert to let him re-sign Ilgauskas. Health issues still dog Curry, who was sidelined by an irregular heartbeat for three months. But a source close to the Hawks told me that if Curry passes their physical examinations, the team would have no trouble offering Curry his fair market value, which is close to $10 million per year. Some fear that Trustmark, the Lake Forest insurance company that underwrites NBA players' contracts, will not indemnify Curry's heart. But a disability counselor for Trustmark, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told me the company won't just consider the documentation that doctors will provide giving Curry medical clearance to play. The counselor said Trustmark also has the option of having its own doctors examine Curry if the company has doubts about the condition of a particular body part.</div> Source
The Bulls can net let him go unless Atlanta just offers him a crazy exspensive contract. Why in the world does he want to go to Atlanta, it will be just like the Bulls when he was a rookie. Atlanta does not have anybody on that team
are you stupid? now i know i'm a hawks fan, but i'll try to be unbiased here. first of all, we'll offer him a contrace WITHOUT incentives. 2nd of all, we have plenty of young talent on the team. josh smith, marvin williams, al harrington, salim stoudamire, josh childress, and soon to be Joe johnson. when he joined the bulls as a rookie they REALLY had nobody.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting lessthanjake:</div><div class="quote_post">are you stupid? </div> What's up with the personal shot at the guy for expressing his opinion on the subject? Also a contract offer from the Hawks is pending he passes his physical. The reason the Bulls have not yet made any offer to Curry is, because they are waiting to receive notification on the matter from the NBA insurance company. If they offer him a contract after he passes a physical it?s more than likely Paxson will match. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Lessthanjake:</div><div class="quote_post">2nd of all, we have plenty of young talent on the team. josh smith, marvin williams, al harrington, salim stoudamire, josh childress, and soon to be Joe johnson. when he joined the bulls as a rookie they REALLY had nobody.</div> Actually, during Curry's first two seasons in the league we had Ron Artest and Brad Miller playing with him as well as Tyson Chandler. So we did have talent they just had not reached there highest level yet. The Hawks do not have any were near a better talent level right now than the Bulls did Curry?s rookie season Salim and Marvin still have not proven themselves since they were just drafted this year, and Josh Smith really does not have much of a jump shot yet. Also they do not have Joe Johnson yet so the Hawks situation is really unstable right now.
