I reallly don't see him being a future superstar. The best he'll get is a Michael Finley / Desmond Mason type.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting phiLA:</div><div class="quote_post">jr smith in my opinion can be the next kobe bryant. he actually has better stats than kobe in his rookie year. he is a great dunker like kobe, and he is a good shooter like kobe. what he needs to do is work on his range, which kobe had trouble on early in his career as well, and to work on his D, which i think kobe also had trouble with early on. if he can do all that, he'll to one heck of a player.</div>

I don't think Kobe was a starter in his rookie season and JR was a starter during his rookie season so that explains the stats. I'm quite sure JR will turn out to be a superstar but player comparisons imo are always inaccurate

One can argue that Michael Finley in his prime was a superstar in the NBA, and yet still I can bet that most players would like to be like Finley. I don't see why JR Smith can't be a future superstar with some good work ethic. He is a freakish athete with a killer jumpshot which will actually get you places in the NBA.

Plus it looks like the Hornets are actually taking a risk and building talent around JR at a young age so that the young Hornets can gel together. Considering the Hornets don't make a huge move, JR will probably get the most chances to score on this team along with Jamaal Maglorie.
