There has been plenty of dust kicked up this offseason, but most of it has been because of blustery talk. The Rockets have promised a While You Were Out makeover, but delivered This Old House. Same old house. The one that ended with a 40-point loss that has become a symbol for just how far away this club remains, not to mention a conversation starter for coach Jeff Van Gundy throughout the offseason. So how ya doin' Jeff? "116-76," he'll say. And then he'll groan and curl his bottom lip, as if still in agony.</div> Source
That was a good read, at least we know Jeff is still thinking about last season and we can learn from our mistakes. It says that the Nets can offer 10million more to Swift then we can, this gets me worrying as I am one of the members who actually wants him here, and if we can't get him or Shareef, I guess a guard would be ok too, even though we're overstock at that position. Btw does the quote box look different to anyone?
Yeah, check the Webmaster's Blog in the Member's Union- it explains it all. Anyways, Houston better pull the trigger on a trade quick, or else we'll be left with just Juwan as powerforward going into the season. The good powerforwards are all being snatched up left and right (Andersen, Gadzuric, now Swift and Abdur Rahim) so the Rockets better find their answer for their weakest position right now.
On the same page, a writer contemplates the Rockets ignoring their PF problem and trade a fewguards for a real PG. This is only if the good PF's a snatchedu p already. Speaking of the big men, do you still think Przybilla is a possibility?
that stinks that NJ may end up taking Swift...I thought for sure that we would be getting him...I dont like the idea of Abdur-Rahim here because I feel that he's just another Howard clone...I think a young nucleus of Yao/McGrady/Swift/Head and James would be nice to develop around...
Definitley time to make some deals. Looks like we have a problem at the guard position. Can't wait to see what moves we'll make.
Hey guys..I took a look at the Nets website and it seems that they're actually more interested in taking Shareef. I really hope they do take him instead of Swift so Swift will have fewer teams to choose from and will have a bigger chance of going here.
Good news!! We'll have to sign him for MLE because I know Memphis won't do a sign a trade with us. Think about it, we're in the same division, and they'll be fighting for a playoff spot with us most likely, so they'll probably trade Swift to the East so they don't have to see him 4 times a year

We simply don't have too many players that Memphis would want- the only players I can think of are Sura or James. I'd doubt Memphis would care if they were trading him to someone in the same division. As long as Jerry West believes that they would benefit from a trade, he would probably do it. I mean, theres tons have teams that have pulled the trigger on trades with teams that were fighting for the same playoff spots, same goes for division.

But I one of the rules of trading a player is NEVER TRADE THEM TO SOMEBODY IN THE SAME DIVISION. Why? Because you'll have to see them four times year, and more than likely it'll comeback to haunt you down the line. But I do agree that we don't have anything to offer them. I can name alot of teams that can offer Memphis more than we can. So basically, if we don't sign him through Free Agency, then he probably isn't coming.
