I would have loved to have had him the whole year so he could see what we were trying to do.'' . . .</div> Source Do you guys want Walker to stay or go?
WHAT! I'd say stay..Look how "great" the celtics did without Walker..And then they went on a huge winning streak..If he doesn't stay..I'll be mad..
I want him to stay but I think he will leave. With Al Jefferson and Brian Scalabrine at PF I think were set.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rodderz:</div><div class="quote_post">Oivey..Without Walker..We have NO chance..And, without walker..This team won't see a championship..</div> You think the celtics are a championship team with Walker????? They arent currently a championship team. They might as well get rid of walker and let Jefferson develop for their future.
Lol..But they could get someone and become a championship team..If they get rid of walker and keep Jefferson and then draft someone good..Most likly without walker, they still won't win a championship..
I say it depends on the status of Paul Pierce. If Pierce goes, Walker has to stay, that's all there it to that. And without (or with a fraction of) his salary, it would make keeping Antoine around not only plausible, but a little easier to handle. Without Pierce, there is very little veteran leadership as it is, but without Walker and Pierce, there is none (save Mark Blount, and we all know how I feel about him), and whether you want to lend credence to the idea of leadership or not, one cannot debate that Walker's drive in close, important games would be missed. Having a player that just gets fired up like that in the most important of situations can affect a young player's career, nevermind just his single game performance. It may sound elementary, but a young player seeing a veteran get amped up like that can help him recognize that being an animal when it's needed isn't a bad thing. Although both Allen and West seem capable of that themselves, they just need to learn a lot more about the game first. And while Walker provides absolutely NO assistance with the development of Al Jefferson, he nevertheless does provide key shots when there is no Pierce. If you all recall he was the man draining the game winners before the youngster Pierce arrived. But without Pierce we have no shot maker, and Walker is better than nothing. And pardon me for contradicting myself, but maybe not having Walker around we could feel out who the big shot maker will be in his absense, for there is virtually no way he will be getting any sort of long term contract. At the money he will be demanding, which, near as I can tell, will be the 7 or 8 a season range, he isn't worth the money to age away and lose his athleticism. I have said from the start I had no idea what kind of player Walker will be as he ages, but there are equal counts discouraging and encouraging signs. We'll see how it goes, but still not worth 7 or 8 a season to find out.
If pierce goes..I'd be even madder..lol..He's my fav. player on the team..But, I want Walker 2 stay 2..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rodderz:</div><div class="quote_post">Oivey..Without Walker..We have NO chance..And, without walker..This team won't see a championship..</div>They aren't going to win a title next year, with or without Walker. Let's get that straight off the bat. Secondly, we weren't as bad as you think before we traded for Walker. We were actually in first place in the Atlantic, which is exactly where we finished anyway. I'll be totally honest and say I don't want Walker back, no matter what happens. Pierce or no Pierce, Walker is just a hindrance to the entire team. The only use we have for him is his experience and ability to be a leader in the locker room, but when a guy like him is your leader....and he goes out onto the court and does all the wrong things....you're not passing along the right message to the young Celtic players. What I'm really afraid of is Walker convincing Danny and Doc that he's ready to be a team player, but returns to his trademark ways. I don't think this guy can be coached, and I also don't think he's ready to play the role that we need him to fill. His ego is too inflated, and I haven't seen any signs of it changing for the better.
1st off..I know we won't win a championship next year..2nd, Alantic Devision sucks..And 3rd, we had a good team, but we weren't doing good..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rodderz:</div><div class="quote_post">1st off..I know we won't win a championship next year..</div>Well then, that shouldn't be your reasoning behind your opinion. Why sign a FA, who's only going to take away minutes from our developing young players, to a 4 year deal? I don't see 'Toine signing for a shorter contract than that, so we'd be looking in the area of 35-40 million over those 4 years. I don't see the point of that unless it's going to make you a championship contender. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">2nd, Alantic Devision sucks..</div>That's an interesting opinion that may have been true two years ago. Last year, the Atlantic had 3 teams in the playoffs, which is more than respectable. How about you stop taking the easy way out and perhaps back up your opinions? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And 3rd, we had a good team, but we weren't doing good..</div>We were doing just fine. Don't fool yourself into thinking that Antoine was our savior last year. That long winning streak we went on last year was mostly against teams that we would've beaten anyway. The only 2 impressive wins were against PHX (without Nash) and Detroit. And don't forget that those games were during the "romantic period" that Antoine had in his first 9 or 10 games back. After that, he reverted back to the ugly Antoine that slowed down the offense and was a liability on defense.
He was our Savior last year..And with 19.1 ppg, and 9 rpg, how would you let that go?..Thats good..Its not great..But its good..Its beter then most people on the team..Oh and <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">'Toine signing for a shorter contract than that, so we'd be looking in the area of 35-40 million over those 4 years. Let Lebron go to get younger players? Lebron is a young player! Walker is 28 or 29 while Lebrons 20. You don't make any sense. The Cavs may not be a championship team next season but they sure will in a few years. Maybe the Celitcs too but keeping Walker around isn't going to help.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rodderz:</div><div class="quote_post">Oivey..Without Walker..We have NO chance..And, without walker..This team won't see a championship..</div> Uh...he takes around 30 threes a game and makes about 2! I odn't know you would want him to stay. I would rather have the young Jefferon who will get you over 12 a night and play good defense.

Aside from all that, 19 and 9 is all well and good, but with the fact that all but 3 or 4 guys from their rookie team are going to be on the roster, you have to understand that that's just 19 and 9 a youngster won't be getting. And $8 million signs two first rounders next year, 'nuff said if you ask me. S&T, please.

You've listed his stats for the entire season, which included his time with Atlanta. How would I let it go? Because that isn't the whole story. If you watch the games, you'll notice that he doesn't fit in our system. He needs a lot of shots and he likes to play one-on-one and also take ill-advised shots. I'm willing to sacrifice that 16&8 if it means I see more of Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Brian Scalabrine, and Justin Reed. 16&8 shouldn't be a problem for them in the extra 35 minutes that'll be available to them. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Oh and Well, thats like saying let go of LeBron because of his high salary..Cavs won't be a championship team either..So why not let go of LeBron and let their younger players get beter?..</div>Can we remain serious here? Are you comparing Antoine Walker to LeBron James? There's about a million obvious differences between those 2 players, so I'm not even going to bother with that ludicrous comparison.
A team thats in first place, doing as bad as the celtics were..do..And, even if..They still weren't first in the league..And they went higher in that ranking once Walker was back..

If you really want people to respect your opinion, you'll need a lot more than that. Try backing up your argument with some facts or statistics.
PG: Delonte West or Marcus Banks SG: Paul Pierce SF: Ryan Gomes PF: Al Jefferson C: Mark Blount Sounds like a solid lineup to me. I think that they will conted for a 6 seed even without Walker.
