<div class="quote_poster">Quoting virve119:</div><div class="quote_post">I never said Babcock was an idiot in my post, all I was implying is that Thorn has proven in the past that he has a knack for making something out of nothing and is really, really good at what he does. As for me saying Graham and CV will be role players, that's not biased at all. Look at it this way, Graham is very athletic, but you have to admit he doesn't have star potential, but he could turn out to be a great defensive, hustle player or, like Bowen, a ROLE player. Also, CV plays the same position as Bosh, so I don't see how both of them can become great players for the Raps when they're playing the same position. Even if CV did slide down to the 3, then where would Graham go? It's not an insult to say they're role players, heck of every good team needs role players, but it is also a reality as long as they're both playing for the Raps. Wright and Ilic do look promising. Wright was the 15th overall selection and is said to have star potential by many scouts. Also, Portland seems to think Ilic, a 2nd-rounder in one of the deepest drafts, was a better than a first-rounder next year- the 7'1 center is just loaded with potential.</div> Graham doesn't have star potential, but Antoine Wright does? What makes you think that other than some pure bias fuelled with even more bias from the scouts? I can pull countless scouting reports of Villanueva and Graham that say they have star potentials too. What does what Portland seems to think have anything to do with how Ilic looks promising in New Jersey Net uniform? A 7'1 center loaded with potential.. Yea.. just like Michael Olowakandi, Kwame Brown, Jerome Moiso and countless other 7 footers with "potential", right? Now, the bolded part. What is that other than a speculation based on bias? "As long as they're both playing for the Raps"? Are you implying that they will not be star-type players in Toronto, but will be one in other teams? Please.
Anyone will tell you that Graham does not have star potential like guys like Green, Granger, Webster or Wright. Babcock even said when they drafted him that they drafted him for his hustle and his defensive potential. Yes, 7 footers are gambles, but Krstic worked out pretty well for us and is still developing. Thorn says that Ilic plays a lot like Krstic but he's more athletic too. When I said as long as they're both playing for the Raps, it's because CV plays the same position as Bosh or Graham if he slides down to the three. It's pretty hard to have two stars playing the same position on the same team. You act like I'm just saying they won't be good unless they play for another team, but I'm not.

Don't tell me Ron Artest isn't a star. He's not a superstar, but he's an all-star nonetheless. You obviously haven't watched any of these guys play, and are just drawing blind conclusions from scouting reports, am I not correct? Green could be a superstar or a super-bust, same with Webster, and Danny Granger hasn't even played a single game because of his knee that hasn't healed since January, and Antoine Wright is just another soft player who likes to camp out in the perimeter and shoot jumpers. Don't even try to tell me that I'm wrong about Wright because I've seen him play in college. He shies away from contact and prefers to spot up behind the three point line until the ball comes his way. He's not even close to being athletic, if his 29" vertical is any indication, and last time I checked players like him don't end up being stars in the NBA. Now, comparing Nenad Krstic and Mile Ilic is just plain insane. That's like the Golden State saying Chris Taft will be the next Kevin Garnett just because they're both athletic and are long. If Thorn said Ilic plays like Krstic, and even went on to say that he is more athletic than him, he's been reading too much draftexpress.com articles. Come on now, you're comparing a mid-first rounder to a mid-second round pick. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting virve119:</div><div class="quote_post">When I said as long as they're both playing for the Raps, it's because CV plays the same position as Bosh or Graham if he slides down to the three. He's not just a PF, he can man all three positions in the front court, even though he does need to get bigger and learn how to defend NBA bigs. Joey Graham is quick and long enough to guard the 2 spot, so on defense he can play both the 2 and the 3. You mentioned that it's hard to have two stars playing the same position on the same team, but aren't you being a hypocrit by saying that? Because if your claim was true, Vince and Jefferson would never co-exist together. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting virve119:</div><div class="quote_post">You act like I'm just saying they won't be good unless they play for another team, but I'm not.</div> The way you phrased that sentence misled me.
I can't believe people are still bashing our draft... it's stupid and pointless. Our draft seemed sketchy at the start, but later on when taking a step back it was a great draft. It's looking even better now, with Rose on the market, and Bonner not looking to come back. CV3 and Graham can both be great starters or 6th men.
