"That's what summer league is for, to figure out things. He's a smart player, and he'll learn. Earlier this week, Stotts recalled that Tim Duncan struggled at times during his first summer league experience. The Bucks coach said he would like to see Bogut be more aggressive around the basket. "He's such a good passer, but I think he has to look to score," Stotts said, "especially in summer league. I don't want to take away his unselfishness. I think his passing is very important and we're going to need his passing during the regular season. "I don't want him to force his offense. But I would like him to be a little more aggressive looking to score, and I think his scoring will set up his passing."</div> Source
This is surprising, because Bogut was sold as the most NBA ready player in the draft to see him struggle is very strange in my opinion. He sounds like he did pretty well on defense blocking three shots, but how did he only get six shot attempts in a summer league game? That shows he has to demand the ball more than he does right now if he wants to become a good big man. Also his ball control looks like it is ghastly right now if he has three turnovers in summer league how many will he have during the regular season. I guess the fact that he was frustrated with his performance shows that this will not be a constant event that happens. He will undeniable have to step up his game and prove something the next game.
I can't believe this, it's uncalled for and a poor way to introduce youself to the league. I'm just playing, he'll be fine everybody has their bad days, don't worry about it..
Thanks, Bobcat. At least he came back with a solid performance in game #2. He's probably going to take some time to get adjusted. You know what they say about young big men: they just take time. While Bogut has a ton of talent, I'm sure that he'll take some time, too. That's why I'm not expecting him to be a star right away. He'll take some time to get adjusted; he just needs to play hard and play defense, and the rest will work itself out.
Bogut?s summer league debut was most definitely very weak, but it isn't how you start it is how you finish and Bogut showed he can bounce back with a very good performance in his second game. When looking at his college stats he had a few average-low scoring games but it always seemed he redeem himself in the next games time, I think he needs to show more consistency if he plans on being a dominant center in the big leagues.
Everyone is really quick to jump on and say Bogut doesn't look all that good or he is gonna take a long time to develop or whatever, but remember that the guy is 20 years old. he's got a lot of maturing to do and he's just learning to play at a level where he faces elite competition. give him some time and he is gonna be fine. he has so much talent and you know he's gonna be a top center but you cant look at his first pre season game and start doubting.

The man did play a good second game, and one's first performance on a professional level, for any player, is often times a humbling experience. As Stotts said, Duncan struggled a little in summer league too, but I think he turned out all right. And no one player gets to be the talk of the summer league. Green's gotten good press, Maxiell's shown his stuff, Telfair was pretty darn good, Nate Robinson had a good one, Kaman, Allen, Diogu, the list goes on. Even David Lee had a good one, and almost no one outside of New York or Florida expected much from him. I think the person with the most reasonable expectation for Bogut's talents is Bogut. He has shown remarkable maturity for a twenty year old, and seems to be pretty realistic about his immediate impact on the Bucks. Every player deserves the chance to make his mark, and let's give him the chance before we damn him to mediocrity or worse. Also, the reason j0se likes Arroyo so much is because they're from the same town, and there's nothing wrong with being a homer, despite what people will tell you, so let's lay off a little.
