<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MickyEyez:</div><div class="quote_post">just because i wasnt on the board doesnt mean i didnt watch all those games... and secondly that 5-8 downhill you talk about is WAY to early in the season to predict a downfall... a lot of teams have slumps early in the season and pull through nicely. and lastly how do YOU know what the season would have been like with mobley? you dont, i dont, no one knows... </div> Boy, I mean you should look into what we've been talking on this board at that time since you haven't been around here at that time I suggested a search. You're right about one thing, it was early in the season, but Coaches get fired early in the season when things don't go that well and a 5-8 stretch (2-8 stretch until the three wins in a row!) isn't a sign of something going well. But as I said there were many other reasons for this trade. One of them being the duo of Francis/Mobley prevented the further development of our two rookies, our future so to say. Besides that, the team wasn't a team during that stretch it was a two man show. I give credit to Weisbrod that he actually saw this problem but how he solved it was just ... (whatever you like). If you still think we should've kept the duo of Francis/Mobley together for the season, I don't think you followed the Magic that closely back then.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NbaBaller:</div><div class="quote_post">I thought he wanted to play wit his best friend Steve Francis again. I guess not, i mean money is more important than friends.</div> We didn't want him back. There was a reason why we traded him for garbage. He was, I don't really want to call a cancer, because he was a good player and I enjoyed watching him play, but like Coranar said it kept the rookies out of mroe touches and playing time. The ball movement and defense on the perimeter is what started the downfall. 5-8 isn't very good no matter where in the season it is. I agree with Coranar about it.

I don't know but it seems that you're kind of ignorant?!? First off, here is no one happy about the fact that we didn't reach the playoffs but that has nothing to do with the trade or with the fact that no one here wants Mobley back in Orlando, for obvious reasons actually which you seem not to understand.. As you said no one knows what would've happened without the trade. Also, they they were already on a losing streak before the trade, they went 5-8 if that is not losing to you I don't know. And everything was pointing that it's going to continue like this. Trading Cuttino wasn't the best idea and definitely not enough to turn us around but it was a try. Remember, we had a hockey guy as GM so you can't expect that great things from him. JD was the main problem, he shouldn't have been our head coach from the beginning. And I think trading Francis instead of Mobley would've been better but Mobley's contract situation (Player Option after the season and wanting more money) was worse than Francis. Also I think Weisbrod just fell in love with Francis, he was his kind of player. Why do you want that we ruin our future once again for just a slight chance that we reach the playoffs? What is more important to you: a playoff berth (maybe not even the chance of advancing into the second round) or developing our future in Jameer and Dwight and making them happy so they stay? Think of it like that, Dwight is our future Franchise Player No. 1, no doubt about that. You want that he's going to be happy so that he stays in Orlando for more than his rookie contract (remember Shaq?). Not giving him touches and letting him see how Francis and Mobley control the ball all the time, play two on five and basically lose games in that way, not involving the team as much as they could, that's like saying to Dwight: "we don't need you here". Also remember that Mobley had a Player Option which he executed after this season in Sacramento and is likely to join the Clippers because he gets more money. It was very likely that he would do the same. He made comments like "all the years I feel I've been underpaid and finally I want some money back". Yes, even if that means to leave his buddy Francis because Orlando didn't want to pay him more than he would've gotten in this year. What is worse: 1. Scenario holding the team together and keeping Francis happy with his buddy, but not reaching the playoffs (which was very possible at that time), his buddy demanding more money, we not willing to pay, he going out of town without any compensation, Dwight frustrated because he didn't get involved that much in our offense and we didn't reach the playoffs. 2. Scenario not reaching the playoffs, developing our two rookies far more than they would've if we kept Mobley (which equals more playing time for Jameer and more touches for Dwight and an overall improved offense since it brings more to the table now then just Francis and Mobley passing the ball between each of them and not sharing the ball much), more playing time for Hedo and thus improving our offense just because he brings in a different and new offense compared to Mobley, an unhappy Francis, DC not fitting in our team, unhappy fans? I guess those were the two worst-case scenarios the GM had in mind. And before coming to such a decision you need to think of worst-case and best-case scenarios and compare them and decide which one is the better. Trading Mobley for DC wasn't the perfect decision and definitely not enough to solve the problems we had, and we had problems (I don't understand how you can just ignore them?). As I said, you didn't really follow the Magic that closely last year. You might have watched all the games but there's a lot going on behind the scenes you don't catch if you don't follow them that closely. Anyway, it seems pointless arguing with you. You don't have any valid points and all you can is put smileys below a quote, great.

My dear son, why are you even here when you don't want to read others opinion. And please do me a favor, stop quoting, especially if you didn't read it or respond to it. We might support the same team, I doubt it though, you support your man Steve Francis and want that he's happy so you want that his buddy comes back, even though that would ruin the whole Franchise. You must be kidding when you say you support the Orlando Magic. As I said you do not have any valid point.
Guys let's stop the fighting now. Like MickeyEyez said, we are all cheering for the same team so let's calm down. We can look back at the past all we want but we can't change anything about it. Let's just stop arguing about something that happend in the begining of the season and move on.
GatorsownstheSEC you should post your Mobley deal thread again how it was good and bad for the Magic it was very good. Dunno if MickyEyez has read it but it tells it all.
Alright, I will try to find it and bump it up although it might be too long for Mickey to read. Here it is.... http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?p=494199 Don't get me wrong, I hated the deal with a passion about as much as you guys, but I was just trying to find the light at the end of the tunnel.

MickeyEyez wants Mobley back in Orlando.
