Turiaf considered a "draft steal": "Ronny Turiaf, PF ? Los Angeles Lakers Turiaf has been a beast on Gonzaga and should have cracked the first round with his big body, height, leadership and rebounding ability. Turiaf was a senior for the Bulldogs and lead them to a solid 26-5 record while averaging 15.9 points-per-game and 9.5 rebounds-per-game. Turiaf dropped 40 on Idaho and is an absolute force inside. He will contend for a starting spot in the weak Lakers frontcourt, similar to Carlos Boozer?s situation coming out of Duke. .... what? I'd be stoked if he turned out to be a Brian Grant. Grant was a real good player for years but his age started to catch up with him and started having knee problems. Before that, he was a very solid hard working player.
I managed to catch some glimpses of him play for Gonzaga last week on Fox sports and was pretty impressed with his hustle and energy. He's definitely one of the better draft choices the Lakers have made in quite some time. He'll definitely be a fan favorite and should be in this league for a long time. For some reason to me, he looks and seems to play like Emaka Okafor. I think he even wears #50 like Okafor.
Turaifs a beast. He's gonna improve the Lakers frontcourt either as a starter or off the bench. Im pretty sure they'll start Brown with Turaif as backup.
I'm a fan of the guy, I was hoping maybe the Raptors could get him in the second round in the draft. I think he's definately a guy that will outproduce where he was picked in the draft.
