http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/bask...?coll=orl-magic Sunday's article in the Orlando Sentinel is saying that the Magic are still shopping though very quiet. It says they are targeting Shareef, Watson, and maybe damon Stoudamire. I think signing either one of the PG would be a good fit. Not only would we have a quality PG to backup nelson but also to teach jameer a thing or two. Signing Shareef would be a great move if we could move howard to center and play him like Suns played Amere. I think a front court of reef and howard would be monsters on the boards and blocks, not to mention low post scoring which could finally open our 3pt shooting game. I hope we add atleast one quality veteran player to fill out the roster of young talent. A guy like damon can help jameer with his game.
Of all those players, I would want Shareef the most because I think he would mesh with Dwight immediatly at the power forward position. I also like Damon Stoudemire but would only want him coming off the bench since he is out of his prime and can only score by putting up threes.

Now about Reef, I have mixed feelings about signing him. He is one of my favorite players(i normally have him on all my fantasy teams) and is a very underrated player, but I don't think I want the Magic to sign him for a couple reasons...... 1. Where's the defense? He plays no defense. 2. Dwight would be 4th option, he needs to be #3 or better for him to progress to plan. I don't think that anyone here will disagree with me when I say Dwight is our future, so we need to give him more touches rather than keeping him the same or worse. I would be happy to sacrifice one more year of being in the lottery for Dwight to become a monster with good development. Basically what I'm trying to say is that Reef would be great now(and would likely get us to the playoffs), but it would hurt our future as it would take Dwight longer to develop. We only have Dwight for 3 more years(for now, hopefully we can lock him up, but with Magic's history I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't), so we might as well use him to his potential in these 3 years. On another note in the Reef situation, we want a tall lineup? How about Francis, Hill, Reef, Dwight, Cato????? I wouldn't be disappointed either way if we got him or didn't get him.
Will someone tell me why they would bring in Watson? He is not that tall so if you are going to go small at point guard just keep Jameer there from the time he has played compared with Watson he has shown lot more potential. I do not see them getting any of these people however, and mostly I direct that at Shareef he has been in such close contract negotiations with the Nets for weeks now that it would be hard to pry him away. Stoudamire would not be a guy I want around Jameer to watch him develop he has had some questionable moments over his career to say the least.
Why doesnt the Magic go for Damon Jones? He is a very reliable 3 point shooter, has a low assist to turnover ratio, and is a solid backup. It may be a stretch because he did so well in Miami last year, but so is Shareef. And the Magic need a efficient PG and 3 pt. shooters.
I would like to have Reef and Stoud but fitting them in will be trouble unless BHill is certin that Dwight can take the 5 spot and trade Kato. I would like to see Marion instead good shooter dunno about his defense but if the Suns want to get money to sign Amare and JJ then thay do what they did in the Knicks deal for Q but with us for Kato and Dougy. Could we do a trade with Portland to get us both SAR and Damon like a S&T and we give em Dougy and Kato? We would still have the MLE and LLE to spend.
That last question you asked is puzzling me. I dont know if we would still have the MLE but I would think no. Even if we did have it we would be even more over the salary cap after a sign and trade and not to mention the luxury tax issue of signing another player. I really want for us to get another player but for some reason I have a feeling we dont need anyone, we just need some time for dwight to get better and everyone to just mesh. I think this franchise has gotten use to adding players every year or atleast making some moves. I think for once we need to chill. Let those bad contracts expire and go after someone that will fit with howard, nelson and franchise. I think we could get to the playoffs with this roster, if we stay HEALTHY. The east got better this offseason and thats not counting what reef is gonna do yet. We know the knicks got a little better as well as the cavs. The bucks should also be a team to watch out for. Of the teams that made the playoffs last year which is least likely to go back and of the teams that didnt make it which do you think will make them? I dont see Boston making it. I see wizards struggling without hughes in that lineup. I do see the cavs making it and if healthy the magic.
