    1. Kobe Bryant winning MVP
    2. Kwame Brown winning Most Improved Player
    3. Phil Jackson winning Coach of the Year
    4. All of the above [IMG]

i really want to be optimistic, but i dont see anything happening unless we pull off a big trade that sends kg or someone over. i mean, kobe winning the MVP is hard, because the mvp is only awarded for the players whose team does well, and the lakers just dont have those players to do it IMO. kwame brown for MIP? um, that could be, but i doubt it. phil for coach of the year? that is the most likely one to happen, but again, i dont see the lakers being a top seed, and coach of the year awards are given to teams with the top seed, or top 5. i dont see the lakers being so high up in the seed, so i really dont see any happening. but hey, maybe turiaf for rookie of the year?

I don't see any of the above happening. Jackson winning COY would be most likely, because your team doesn't always have to win 45+ (or even make the playoffs for that matter, as long as they have at least 40) wins to be considered for COY.

I do not think option one is possible. Kobe will not win Most Valuable Player, because most of the time to win that your team needs to at least have home court advantage in the playoffs the chances of the Lakers having that this season is slim. His statistics were up to par this season for the award, but his team did not perform near to well enough for him to win it (which was obvious).

I do not see Kwame Brown winning Most Improved Player, because I am not a big believer in him. Shapecity made a thread and posted numbers he thought would qualify Kwame to have a successful season I believe he used Mihm?s season last year as the scale for a successful season for Brown. The last three most improved players have all averaged fifteen points and above so I do not see Brown getting it unless he does that or it is a weak year.

Phil Jackson winning coach of the year is the most likely, but also won?t happen. During his career Phil Jackson has only won one coach of the year award I believe. This could be a season he wins another should he coach the Lakers to the playoffs, because they will see he came into a team that was not tagged a ?playoff ready? team. However, I think that the league will look at the story of a coach with a lesser-known name for example Lawrence Frank and give him the award if the Nets get home court and have a good season.

So my vote goes for none of the above. I am not trying to hate on the Lakers I do see them making the playoffs with a low seed, but do not see them getting many team awards. Kobe will be on the all NBA team, and possibly all defensive team, but no other real awards.

I think mostly likely none of them will happen. There is a small chance for kwame winning most improved and Phil winning coach of the year but i just don't see Kobe winning mvp.

I don't think any either, the Kwame MIP, and maybe Phil COY are the biggest possiblities.

All of those would mean the Lakers would have to be championship contenders again. Not likely this year. Wishful thinking, but not likely.

Not necessarily for the most improved player, although true for the other two. Simmons won it last season, and the Clippers haven't gone anywhere but to the lottery every single year. That IMO is the most likely, but still doubtful of the options.

With this roster what we have atm we dont win any of those awards [IMG].If we can bull out one good trade then maybe MIP or COY.I cant see Kobe as MVP with this team , we cant be 5.+ in west in the end of season. Biggest chance is that Kobe is going to win Scoring Title in 2005/2006 season if we can get good PG.

yep. i agree with kobe getting the scoring title and also IMO, MVP contention. kobe could be the top contenders for MVP if he stays healthy and motivated--and also be surrounded by good players and good chemistry with phil jackson.

But kobe winning MVP is quite a long shot but there's a slim chance that he can IF the lakers can increase their number of wins from last year. i.e. from 34-50? or even 55? heck if turiaf, brown, odom, bynum explodes it could be a 60-win team and a high seed in the playoffs..although i could only clearly see that in my NBA Live dynasty mode. ^-^

the most likely IMO is phil winning coach of the year. as long as he takes the lakers to the top 5 seeds, which'll be very hard, he'll be a good contender.

5). None of the above will happen. The most likely thing to happen out of them is Phil winning coach of the year. Apart from Laker fans, nobody will understand why the team is better. That is because we have better players and will most likely have fewer injuries. Phil will get most of the credit for the turnaround. He would deserve it, but not to the extent that he will get. Remember Kobe, Caron and Lamar played together with Rudy for about 40 games together last season and the record was something like 22-18 for those games. If those four were part of the team for 80% of the season, we would have made it to the playoffs.

Most likely none of them will happen, but Phil Jackson winning coach of the year is a possibility.
