Posted on Sun, Jul. 17, 2005 Iguodala aims to become a more lethal weapon As a 76ers rookie, he made his name on defense. This summer, his focus is on offense. By Joe Juliano Inquirer Staff Writer BOWIE, Md. - Like most of his teammates last night on the Allen Iverson Celebrity All-Stars, 6-foot-6 Andre Iguodala possessed a sizable strike zone. Although he resembled a baseball player in his brown San Diego Padres throwback jersey with Tony Gwynn's name and No. 19 on the back, Iguodala has had his mind on nothing but basketball this summer. The swingman who started every one of the 76ers' 87 regular-season and playoff games last season has been working on becoming more of an offensive force, working hard on his jumper and on creating shots within the offense. "I've been in Chicago pretty much, working out and trying to improve as a player and help the Sixers be a better team," Iguodala said before playing softball in the Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic at Prince Georges Stadium on a steamy night in the Washington suburbs. "I want to become a better scorer and be able to score on isolation plays, be a go-to guy after [Iverson and Chris Webber]. I'm also trying to become a little bit quicker." source:http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/12153311.htm well, that's always good to hear. i think the part of his game he needs to improve most on is his offensive skills. if he could get a consistent jumper, then that would be great! i think if he works hard enough in the off season, he could turn to be an offensive threat.
Yeah if he develops his jump shot and other defenders respect that he won't be played just for the drive resulting in him making more points and hopefully more of those pwerful slams.
It?s good to hear that he is working on his game. If he keeps developing his jump shot, and three point shot, etc he could very well be an all star caliber player by his third year in the league. I think this season will be the season he emerges and begins to find out what type of player he is. With Chris Webber aging, AI as well soon this teams offense will be placed on Igoudala and Dalembert more and more. They already have the hardest part of the basketball game down which is defense. So it should be pretty easy for them to find their offensive games. I think that his jump shot is not as bad as people think it is right now. I do think it is underrated he still shoots 33% from three point range, and 49% from the field. Shooting around the thirties is were most players do shoot its only seven percentage point sunder Korver?s average from three. Igoudala really has improved his shot from when he was at Arizona it was the biggest knock on him when he was drafted. I do not think it is as big a concern as it use to be now.
Yeah, those who keep up with his slam magazine diary would have known this all ready. It is good to hear he has gone threw with it though; we need him to be a bigger threat on the offensive end.
Good to hear, he has great potential, and could even be our main man when the time comes for Iverson to retire. Lets hope thats not any time soon though
