Who do you think the Lakers should get with their MLE? I was thinking Marko Jaric or Gerald Wallace. Preferrably Wallace.
Why would the Lakers need Gerald Wallace? They already have Odom, George, Jumaine Jones, and Luke Walton at the 3. The lakers should try to get Andtonio Daniels, Earl Watson, or Brevin Knight.
I will go with Antonio Daniels he is second in the league behind Brevin Knight. I think at 6?4? Daniels fits into the Lakers ?triangle offense? better, because he is a bigger guard then Knight who is 5?10 and 170 pounds compared to Daniels 205 pounds. Daniels is also like I have said before a guy who has been to the promise land, and that is something the current Lakers lineup lacks besides Kobe, George, Walton, and Slava no one on the Lakers team has ever been to the finals. Daniels was there and won one with the Spurs. That is something that puts him above all the other point guards on the market in my mind. He is a guy who can bring you that experience come playoff time like he showed this year he picks up his game when the team needs it. He improved his points per game 17.8 in the conference semi final against the very good defense that the Spurs had. He averaged 13.5 points in the cumulative playoffs improving his scoring average by two points from the regular season, and also shot over 45% from the field. Come playoff time with so many young guys they will need a guy like Daniels that is if they are there.
Yeah I don't know why the hell you'd want Gerald Wallace. Even after trading Caron we're still loaded with SF's. Daniels would be a good fit here...and as has been said a million times..he likes the roster. Cleveland I beleive is our main competition other than Portland. Cleveland is unlikely because they are already paying snow 5 million. Daniels wants 6 a year. That'd be 11 million to point gaurds neither of which are all stars. I got this from some article dont know which- so if sounds like plagarism my bad. I'm just summarizing what i read. About portland tho- all i've heard is he's pretty interested because of McMillan. I haven't heard anything beyond that though and I live in portland. Paul Allen obviously has the money to spend, he'd be good veteran leadership, but I'm not sure they'd be interested seeing as they have Telfair and now Jarett Jack.
Marko Jaric. He fits in very well with the triangle offense and it makes the most sense. Antonio Daniels would be another obvious option, but he has other teams on his list like Utah, Portland, Miami etc. Jaric is younger than Daniels and he's more versatile to use in the backcourt with Kobe than Daniels. You can't go wrong with either, but Jaric is the better and more realistic option.
^i agree Jaric is the most realistic, but can he keep his feet and ankles healthy? he's missed 72 games in just 3 seasons, and with the lakers' salary cap, they can't just be taking risks like that. It seems as though Daniels will end up in portland, but if the Lakers can sway him, they should definitely take him over Jaric.

I just don't see the Clippers letting him go.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Mel JBB:</div><div class="quote_post">Too bad Marco is a restricted free agent. I do not think the Clippers want to offer Jaric a big contract, because Shawn Livingston is there point guard of the future, and we all know Sterling he likes to save money nay were he can. He already gave Cuttino a payday this summer so he might be unwilling to give Jaric one. Maybe if the Lakers can offer them one of their small forwards a sign and trade would be an option.
With the Mobley signing and with Livingston getting the starting job this season (I assume), along with the selection of Daniel Ewing, I don't think Sterling will match the full MLE contract (what the Lakers will offer) for Jaric in order to keep him when he already has his backcourt set for the future and now (Livingston, Mobley, Ewing Korolev, Ross?). I don't know why Sterling, of all people, would pay Jaric around 6.5 million a year to come off the bench.
is that what were gonna offer jaric? Someone please tell me about this dude cause thats quite a bit of money for a offense that doesn't NEED a great pg to run smoothely...
why dont we split the MLE on pargo and lue? both are great players IMO, and both have already played the triangle. plus, they both are relatively young. i would actually rather get those two than marko, or even daniels.
I agree that getting Pargo and Lue would be good moves. Phil Jackson wrote in his book that Pargo cried when he was told he was let go by the lakers. He would love to return, as well as Lue. You'd have to be crazy to want to stay in Atlanta.
even if daniels likes the look of the lakers roster, they can only offer him a two-year contract--to get under the cap by 2007. the cavs or portland can offer him a lot more. money may not be our advantage but the roster, the city, kobe and phil are big factors. maybe if daniels would fit well with phil's system he could get an extension by 2007. i dunno if i'm right though.
