Is there anyway we can sign Kyle Korver? Maybe for the MLE? He's a better shooter and defender than Dunleavy?
I really wanted us to draft Korver, and he's become what I expected-except he costs more now. While he's almost a 3pt specialist,he trys to have a complete game. Like Dunleavy,he does not have a quick first step on D...But we have Pietrus for those matchups
I like Dun alot more than Korver. Dun has a much better all-around game IMO; he can shoot, pass, play PG and PF as well as SF, and tries to play defense. We dont need a 3 pt specialist if all but two (Foyle and Biedrins) of our rotation players can easily knock down a 3. I'd rather our team shoot less threes and play more defense.
I'm interested as to where Korver will end up...I dont see him back in Philly since they spent all that money on Dalembert...but with what he is (a 3-point specialist) I think he needs to go to a contender such as Detroit, Miami, SA or even Houston...
Korver could do well in Cleveland off the bench. If Detroit's new coach doesn't mind Korver's lack of D then he could also add some much needed 3pt shooting there as well. And slightly OT, Dalembert hasn't signed with Philly, i guess negotiations went awry and he is visiting the Hawks.
I would like to see Korver on the Kinks, now that Mobley is gone, could be a god shooter replacing Stojakovic.
Mullin's law: We do not accept anything that will threat Dunleavy's position. Why do you think we have one natural SF in our roster? Reality is that our rotation is already filled with quality players, so there is no reason for us to sign anybody at this point. To make things worse, our team will face financial crisis pretty soon, so we need to save rooms as much as possible...
Mullin's law. lol! I would love to have Korver because the guy plays with heart and just punishes people for leaving him wide open. Very explosive set shooting. But we don't really need him that badly. Does he even create his own shot? Most of the time I just see him shooting off the catch. We already have plenty of offensive options already that are capable of driving the ball like any of our current wings minus Cheaney. I like the guys that can shoot off the dribble and create their own shot myself. I mostly like versatility and different dimensions to a player's game, but I also like those players that do what they're supposed to do (shoot) and he shoots really well when wide wide open. It's almost automatic. He does shoot the low percentage shot a lot of times, though, and that's kind of annoying. He's made some great hustle plays to make up for lack of speed, but he sometimes might get killed off the dribble.
I can't imjagine the sixers not resigning him, yeah they'll resiign dalibert but than they'll still have the mle for korver if they have no use it, no gm will offer more than that, philly loves kyle and he's worked himself into a happy rut. yeah i'm a sixers fan but i honestly don't believe he'll be gone, unbiased view, i think we'll retain sammy and kyle and lose green, maybe the cs can get green and have 3

They've tried to see if Zarko can play some 3, but he's not very good at it as he is at the 4 and 5. We could stand to land a gritty Bruce Bowen type small forward, though.
He is such a clutch player from the spot up position. We all thought Dun would be that player. He is getting better, but it is really disappointing when someone penetrates and gives him a perfect pass. He's already set and throws up a brick. If he was going to be any type of player for us, that was one of the most essential aspects of his game we needed. Sure having another good passer and rebounder on the court is nice, but I want him to just stand around the 3 pt line and rain 3's for us...
Really? I want to see Dun handle the ball more. The dude's pretty flashy when he wants to be (which is not often unfortunately, and I think it was mainly do to him being passive in nature, not that quick out of the get-go and the fact the floor spacing was sometimes crowded). One minute he looks like a wuss that stands around bricking shots, looking lost, having no impact on the floor whatsover except for a few good chest passes or bounce passes and the other bunch of minutes he's hitting his shots, making no look passes, running fast in transition or throwing bounce passes that nobody could seen happen before the play or he's dribbling the ball from a low crossover to behind the back dribble to beat his defender. If he ever works out the kinks in his game, gets the Rick Barry fire, and just wants it more he'll be pretty good, because everything he does looks great on paper and indicates a very good player. Unfortunately, we've when waiting for a pretty long time to justify if he was even lottery material. It might not be long before some other young kid takes his job because they're simply a better starter with more impact in what they do for the team overall. At least Dun's gotten rid of some of the softness in his game where he's always falling over on the floor or when he's hitting anything but the rim or the net off a pass right to him. He's kind of overrated, but like I said earlier, everything he does looks great on paper and when he's having a good game, he absolutely bleeds talent. Not that many nba players are that polished in passing, handling, and the shot form. But yeah, I think sometimes we need that Kyle Korver role player that is just going to be money from wide open. I think my main disatisfaction with Dun (and I'm sure I'm not alone) is when television announcer, Jim Barnett, informally announces on air that he has achieved wood, by talking about Mike Dunleavy Jr. every other 5 minutes. It's like he can't get enough or he's having senior moments where he just forgets that he talked about him. Even when Dun hasn't even touched the ball yet or he's parked on the bench, it's the same couple of phrases. "He looks good dribbling the ball for a man 6'10", "I just love the way Mike Dunleavy plays, he's got a tremendous basketball I.Q." or "Mike Dunleavy is just really struggling tonight", etc, etc. (I got a thread on this btw.) Anyway this Barnett Dun Love is scary. Let's hope he doesn't announce himself when hiding behind the Warriors shower room wall, a la the movie, Porky's. His voice is too familar.
To be honest, you would know more about Dun's game than I would. I only catch a handful of national TV games and local games when they played in Denver or against Denver in the Bay area. Now I am in Dallas and I will probably get about the same amount of looks, but I am going to pony up and get the league pass on cable.

I hate FSN for playing Sharks games as a priority over Dubs games, the bastards.

I've ranted a lot about Dun in the past. I've always felt that Dun doesn't seem to do a whole lot that is noticeable, but when he does the guy's game is to be admired, but then he's hardly noticeable most nights unless someone fixates on him like Barnett. I guess that a person who truly knows basketball, has played before at a high level can appreciate his game. It's just hard to ignore the times when he's been very untimely with the missed shots, followed by the foul on the defensive end or he just doesn't get you plain results for the type of offensive mismatch that he's supposed to be. What he does looks pretty and all, but doesn't help us win any and he's been sort of the scapegoat ever since because our team has lacked star players coming out of the lottery. (J-Rich had consistency problems of his own, but you felt his impact more than Dunleavy's because he actually drew double teams). The first half of the seasons for the first two years MDJ was pretty disappointing, but he got better after the time he was forced to play point guard last year and this year with the Dallas game (Baron Davis trade), which I pay homage to in this commemorable "Dun's Gone Wild" sig. The moment must be preserved before he goes back to being sort of passive again because in the first half of 2005, we may get the same old sleepwalking Dun. I thought Dun did better in the second half of 2004 where had some memorable plays mostly in his passing and ballhandling skill, his 20 pt 20 reb game at point guard, but I guess it was overshadowed by the fact he bricked a lot of shots with the perfect of passes right to him as a perimeter shooter, he was getting back to back bad plays when he was to play the wing and about 80% of the games he hardly did anything to prove he should be a starter. Overall shooting %'s indicate he's a good shooter, but he was so inconsistent, he couldn't set the tone in games and didn't deliver when it mattered. It's almost like baseball players that have good batting averages, but constantly hit into double plays or ground out when they need a run driven in. Dun is just so hard to follow. Mostly, I have to record the game, watch it over again in parts and then Dun actually made a play happen with either his passing skills or a nifty move with the ball, and that's pretty much it, because he's not outstanding in his ability to dish out assists with the type of offense the Warriors organized, nor is the kind of guy that can beat his man off the dribble unless he's already in motion. Also the constant falling on his butt and flopping was annoying because there wasn't much contact, but luckily he doesn't do it as much as in 2004. I guess we'll see how well he does this season. He could play for money, he could play to get out, or he may simply be glad to be winning, the fact the pressure is off of him and fans can now appreciate aspects of his game because he's not a ballhog like 3 out of 5 of our starting roster from 2002.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Run BJM:</div><div class="quote_post">Hopefully TNT and ESPN give the Warriors some respect and start picking up their games. I hate FSN for playing Sharks games as a priority over Dubs games, the bastards.</div> That wont be a problem this season...
Well, it looks like Korver is re-signing with the Sixers for 6 years and roughly $25m... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2111850

That game alone made me hate Dirk Nowitzki and the NBA officiating, Dirk had total control over the referees and whenever he flopped it was a foul on Dunleavy or Biedrins (even if Biedrins was on the opposite side of the key). I really hope there is some horrible incident where the officials make a bad call at the Finals and the wrong team wins the finals off of one or two incorrect calls. Only something like that will force Stern to admit that there needs to be changes with the officiating. All i ask is for consistency, there should be no such thing as a "rookie call" or a "veteran call" a rule should apply to everyone and if a player flops a bunch of times they should get a technical for having no balls (thats you Fish, Dirk, Manu, Vlade, and even Yao).
