I think he'll be given a chance to be invited for the training camp together with Glover. Wow! They swept the Minnesota Summer League series(5-0). However there's a question on Baxter's stamina. He gets tired easily so he must work out on that. JVG needs an energy type of player like Bowen. So if he wants to get more role player's minutes he must condtioned himself for the training camp. I know most will be thinking that he'll only get 10-15 mins. anyway(if he is indeed signed by ther Rockets) but sometimes there will be a time wherein you play extended minutes due to a foul-troubled teamate, injuries or if you played a good game.

still a lot of time until the start of the season and CD isn't done with the team at all - I expect a couple sign-and-trades and perhaps CD unloading some of the guys on the team for upgrades at PG and on the bench. He traded JJ who was one of JVG's favourite players so I'd probably say anyone not named TMac Yao or Stromile can be traded.

Did you not know that Baxter was the king of Summer League basketball?

I was a big Lonny Baxter fan when he was with the Bulls sad that we traded him, but he is not a player who can contribute much to a team in it?s rotation. During the Bulls summer league he won the rebook MVP and average like a double double. Yet when the season started he went from consistent minutes the first five games, to coming in every now in then, to injury reserve, and then finally traded.

Yeaa, it was the same with the Raps and pretty much every team he's played with. He's much better than the summer league talent, but his size and stamina prevent him from being a regular on an NBA team.

The summer league also raises some questions about Luther Head. He didn't play so well, but does that necessarilly translate into the NBA?

[IMG] Why doesn't anyone post in the Summer League thread? Anywho, I honestly doubt Lonny Baxter would crack our lineup although we really need a small forward. For reasons why, check the posts above.

I was surprised that Baxter did not develop into the promising player who was so wide and strong yet so gifted offensively around the basket while at MD. He simply took over games in the ACC with his post moves and rebounding. He may be ready to take the next step. Some peak later than others. I expect he has a high confidence level at this point in the Summer Leagues so his performances there could be overlooked by coaches familiar with him. But some of us had to take the SAT a few times to get it right, and maybe he's finally arrived.

I would love for the Rockets to invite Baxter to camp...hes young, big and athletic and is a young PF who could develop from the tuterage of Yao, Deke and Stro...I dont see much room for Glover though, since we have a plethora of guards, and I would rather us re-sign barry than bring glover to camp...
