NY Post The Toronto Sun Two sources are reporting that Marshall will be joining the Cavaliers. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">TORONTO (CP) - Donyell Marshall may be on his way to Cleveland. The six-foot-nine Raptors free agent has agreed to terms with the Cavaliers, according to the New York Post. </div> I didn't expect this to happen, but boy the Cavaliers have upgraded talents in a major way for their starting lineup. Good bye Marshall, you'll be missed.
I wish he had gone to the western conference. Now we have to see him team up with LeBron 3-4 times a year.
So does this mean Gooden is gone in Cleveland? Because I thought Marshall didn't want to come off the bench, and Gooden certainly won't put up with coming off the bench. This is really surprising b/c I thought for sure Donyell would go to Washington. I guess Lebron finally got a shooter...Cleveland could be sick next year if they don't have any major injuries.
Gooden certainly would be traded. He's been on the block before they got Marshall, and with Marshall on board there would be no reason for the Cavs to hold on to him.
Well Marshall was gone no matter what, but I didn't think he was going to Cleveland. So now that Marshall is in Cleveland, they're probably looking to trade Gooden for a point guard like Damon Stoudamire.
True enough. They need a pg and they need to get rid of Gooden (I don't think he'll want to play in Cleveland after this offseason) but they will still need another big guy to back up Donyell and Z. They'll probably lose Tractor in FA, so their only backup would be Varejao. They still have work to do this offseason...
I knew he was gone but I was still hoping that he would stay. He was always one of our most consistent players. I always wanted him to get more playing time but it never materialized (with the exception of our injury-plagued season). Gooden seems like he'll be a journeymen for the rest of his career; good enough that teams would still be interested in having him but not good enough to stay on a team long term. Sort of like Jimmy Jackson or Juwan Howard.
That is a key signing for the Cavs... instead of Redd now they have Sarunas and Marshall as the deadeye shooters that Lebron can distribute out too. It would've been better to get JJ instead of Hughes, but I think this will all work out. You can't argue with this lineup, and I think Hughes will bow out to Lebron and not be selfish and try to take shots or be the bigger man... obviously. Lebron is something else, and will carry his new improved team to the semis. I can see the Cavs doing very well this coming season... a bright future for the organization.
LeBron, Z, Hughes, Marshall, Gooden (If he stays), and Andriuskevicius... The Cavs future is really looking up. I expect Cleveland to make some moves now with Gooden now for a PG.
It looks like we might loose Rafer, because of all these PGs we are getting, and Alvin is coming back, I hope Alston doesnt have any connection with the Cavs in the near future, or that team will be a good one.
