<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> TROPHY CLUB ? Almost everybody talked about Michael Finley in the past tense Monday. But a certain former teammate was more than willing to present a here-and-now offer that may be tempting when Finley officially becomes an ex-Maverick, likely later this week. Steve Nash said Finley would be a "great fit" for the Phoenix Suns, creating the possibility that two-thirds of the Mavericks' former Big Three could end up together again. "It is strange to think of Mike not playing for Dallas," Nash said. "I think it would be a great fit for us. It would make us such a deep team." A good portion of the NBA family was on hand at the Finley & Friends charity tournament at the Trophy Club. The event benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Finley's agent, Henry Thomas, said more than 10 teams have shown an interest in acquiring Finley, were he to be waived by the Mavericks under terms of the amnesty clause in the new collective bargaining agreement. Doing so would save owner Mark Cuban perhaps $51 million in luxury taxes over the next three seasons.</div> Dallas News Finley would be an excellent fit for the Suns. Not only do they get a solid and dependable veteran to let come off the bench, but they get a great shooter to compliment Nash and Amare. Even at his age, he can still run up and down the floor and is athletic enough to play a high-paced game. He's quite a steal especially since the Suns won't have to toss a bundle to acquire him.
Since rumors are going around that Joe Johnson will be leaving to Atlanta, and the Suns will have money still, Finley would be the best player to aquire. He is defenitley a good fit in Phoenix, i hope this happens.

I've said this before I would hate to see JJ leave but finley would fit great as a starter or bench player.I would love to see Joe re-sign and then see Finley sign it wpuld be a dream come true
Not sure if JJ is going to leave or not, but both ways Finley would be a good fit. I still think the Suns need to get some more defensive players... or just try to get Nash and Finley to play some defense once in awhile.
Yes, i would love to see this happen, Nash would be able to rest more, JJ would go to the point and Finley would come in at the 2, then we would have Jim Jackson come in for Marion and Raja Bell if we do get him can come in for JJ when he's tired.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting unbeliever:</div><div class="quote_post">Can we afford finley if we keep (max out) JJ?</div> No!
So well just have to see if JJ comes back if he doesn't then Finley is my best pick to replace him. What do you guys think.

What do you guys think.</div> He is by far the best pick if JJ does not come back. He has an excellent relationship with Nash and they play very well together. Fin plays less then desirbale defense but we do have a stopper at the position in Bell. Also we would have money remaining because Finley would not demand the same contract that JJ is (he gets his Mavs salary), and we could find another big. Having said all of this I would MUCH rather sign JJ! My dream scenerio would be to resign JJ and then resign Steven Hunter.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting emannen:</div><div class="quote_post">... resign JJ and then resign Steven Hunter.</div> Bravo to that! Finley would be cool, but I'd worry about the Suns being even more of the second-coming of Nelly and Cuban's Mavericks squad. We need JJ and Hunter.
We would be better of with jj, if we don't match his offer we have enough money for finley and hunter if we match it we don't have enough money.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ArizonaSportsFan22:</div><div class="quote_post">Just thought I'd tell you... Finley plays good defense emannen. Not as good as JJ though, of course.</div> Finley used to play good defense. The playoffs are a perfect example (he was burned).
He was recovering from an injury I heard, and should do a bit better. But he is not a bad defender at all.
He's not bad and if you guys remember he was an all-star about 2 or 3 years ago, it really wasn't that long ago. So he does have good defense skills.
