<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Dijon Thompson is probably in the weight room or a gym right now. Sure, he is motivated to lock up a Suns opening day active roster spot. Sure, he is eyeing a role in Phoenix's rotation. But what he really wants is to avoid letting down Steve Nash when Tucson camp opens in October. Thompson, the 54th pick of last month's draft, got a pseudo NBA indoctrination last week during the Vegas Summer League. He left knowing that was just a glimpse of how fast they play, and that 37 percent shooting (including 3 of 14 three-pointers) and his 6-foot-7, 195-pound frame won't cut it. Thompson said he would return to Los Angeles for two months of dedicated weightlifting and conditioning. He knows the expectations for outside shooting. "The coaches (in Las Vegas) kept reiterating, 'Shoot the ball,' to me," Thompson said. "I've got to get used to it because Nash is going to be dishing me the ball. He's going to be mad if he doesn't get an assist."</div> Arizona Republic
Yeah that's pretty funny Nash will get his assist anyways. Dijon needs to work hard if he wants to fit in the Suns rotation. The summer league is a low level league and if he can't even keep up with the summer Suns then he has no chance with the real Suns.
