<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rock4life:</div><div class="quote_post">By the way.............I wasn't really paying to much attention to you, we have some heated debates in the Rockets forum. Maybe you can learn something. The reason why I bring up Sportcenter because that's what your basing your senseless opinion on. You don't watch the Rockets on a nightly basis, so your opinion might be a little inaccurate. I'm sorry, I just wouldn't label a player who respects the game as "soft". Your basing your opinion on his character, rather than his game. Maybe he should jump in the crowd and punch somebody to get some respect.</div> You read the post I started! It seems I am not the only person who thinks Yao is soft! Maybe I can learn something? As far as basketball my favorite team is the Phoenix Suns, I am a very knowledgeable fan. Ask the Suns fans on this sight! While I do watch sportscenter it is not the basis of why I think Yao is soft (absurd statement). I have watched Rockets games during the regular season and watched much of the Dallas series. I saw a good-solid player. But one that did not play the game with the same force that makes players like Nash (not outspoken), Shaq, and others great. He could not will his team to win, and on some nights it seems as if he does not want to win (based on his play). Yao has solid skills and post moves, but he will never be a Superstar. He is fatigued very easily as well. He is SOFT, and many agree with me!

I think he has "respect" for players, and the game of basketball. Most people in the Rockets forum will probably disagree with you, and we watch him every night. Maybe Yao needs to be "more aggressive" sometimes, that's fair. But to say he's "soft" because he doesn't play like Shaq is stupid. Could it happen to be that Yao and Shaq just have different ways of being effective.

I mean he does not have the will to take over games. Not once in 3 seasons have I seen Yao lead his team to victory in vital situations. He did not do this in the playoffs against Dallas, when Amare took over and asserted himself. Yao had a great series but he did not make plays in those key situations. I think Yao has a great respect for players and the game of basketball. I assume that he is a nice guy off the court. Also Rockets fans have a biased opinion as I do with my team. I think Amare will be the best player in the league in the next few years, many non-Suns fans disagree. Many Rockets fans do not think Yao is soft, many non-Rockets fans disagree. That is why in my post I asked for non-Rockets fans. And as I have stated I have seen Yao play on many occasions. R-E-A-D.

You simply haven't seen enough of Yao's games to make these off based assumptions. I've watched 95% of all Yao's games, and there have been PLENTY of times where Yao has lead the team to victory. I can remember one game in particular AGAINST AMARE. Amare had more points, but Yao had like 28pts and like 18 rebs. Plus he had like a double double in the 4th quarter alone. For the record, that's only ONE example of many that Yao has lead the team. Now that I've pointed that out to you, what other excuses can you come up with? <div class="quote_poster">Quoting emannen:</div><div class="quote_post"> He did not do this in the playoffs against Dallas, when Amare took over and asserted himself. That's a whole different debate. Yao had a GREAT series, he upped he averages, and showed that he is the second best center in the league. It's Tmac's team, so he did most of the damage in the 4th quarter. Your main problem with Yao, I think is that he is, well, Yao. You and everybody else want him to be somebody he's not. If he came out and had a monster year, you'd still label him "soft". So I guess this is pointless
jeff posey, he's always been an excellent defender in denver and in memphis, now that hes on the heat people will see how good he is on the defensive side of the ball.
You mean James Posey, then I agree, he's got great length, athleticism, and puts out effort defensively, he's definately a good one. He was also in Houston for about half a season.

Trenton Hassell or Boris Diaw. Diaw doesnt get mentioned cause he cant shoot but he can play D with the best of them, and Hassell doesnt get mentioned because, I dont know thats just the way it is. Both of them are very underrated.
Hassell was in the running for DPOY in 03-04, not really high up there, but people gave him props, he was also credited for shutting down Melo when Denver played the Twolves in the post-season.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">Garnett is actually good defensively. Combine his rebounding, above average man to man defense, versatilty on defense, and shot blocking ability, and he's definately worthy of a first team selection.</div> He is good, but he isn't first team good. Guys like Rasheed Wallace, Kenyon Martin etc. are better than him defensively.
