Lucas is a great shot blocking big man who is athletic and fits their style of play. He'll be great insurance just in case Hunter decides to leave.
From what I have Lucas Tischer did not have a great summer league but demonstrated some great raw talent. The guy has good size 6'9 230 can run, jump, and will have a great opportunity in Phoenix. He can learn from possibly the best big in the league in Amare, and from Ivaroni who will do everything he can to develop this kid. Having Starbosa on this team will make the transition from Brazil to the NBA a little easier. He will not play much if at all this season but could was signed because the coaching staff thinks he can really develop especially in this system.
Sounds like a good pick up for development. Nash as well as Barbosa will help being on the team as I believe nash speaks Brazilian also. This guy sounds like he would be a nice back up for Amare in a few years time if he develops well.

Well he's 22 so he should burst any minute now, two or three years with Ivarioni will tell. He's got good structure, sounds like a rookie Amare, HOPEFULLY. We need good defense.
I don't like the move, we are having enough trouble with size to bring in another forward. I don't care how high he can jump, we need a solid big that knows the game. This kid has only been playing for five years! If he couldn't get us closer to being champs, we shouldn't have picked him up. Let him learn on someone else's dime.
Why don't we just see how good this kid can play and then we can criticize him. If he wasn't good Bryan Collangelo the executive of the year wouldn't have signed him.
He's young dude. He's just a little project. He isn't getting any playing time anyway. The Suns were gonna fill the bottom of their roster with nobodies so why not have nobodies with potential? We have no money to sign a star big man.
I should have known they make great sigs. And i hope this kid is good because the suns really need big players that can play defense and run.
Not to derail but I'm a bit mad that someone like Tillman would waste his celebrity and money, that he could put to good use raising money for charity and that sort of thing, by going off to play soldier. That he was killed by friendly fire is an unfortuante added insult. That the government initially covered it up is a crime. That said, I hope Tischer works out. I like seeing young kids join the team and watching them evolve (or not) over the course of the seasons.

I just think his money and fame could have gone to far greater use than to be just another wasted life in an irresponsible war full of wasted lives.
I understand how you feel and i respect that, but please most of us have somebody over in iraq and the way you say "wasted lives" it doesn't feel right.

My step-brother is a marine recruiter. I understand that angle of things as well. And I'm sorry, but friendly fire accidents especially are a "waste" in my opinion. Then when you combine the reports from the commanders on the fielding requesting (but not receiving) more soldiers and the lack of adequately armored humvee's as well as armored field wear and then you observe the deaths that result from these un-met needs... the term wasteful seems to fit better. And don't even get me started on all the lies and lack of forsight leading up to this war.
