<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Add it all up and it makes for a difficult decision for the Hawks. Apart from the money involved, there is the serious issue of Curry's well-being. Curry insists he's OK and "100 percent," but so did Lewis when he spurned the advice of Celtics doctors years ago and decided to keep playing. Does Atlanta want to risk mortgaging its future for what could turn out to be a tragic situation?

Even if Curry stays healthy, there is reason for the Hawks to be leery. Despite his enormous potential, his first three NBA seasons were marked by poor conditioning, clueless defense, lack of rebounding and generally soft play. Curry played much better last year, but many wonder if it was a temporary condition brought on by his pending free agency.</div>

That would be a good move for the Warriors, they have a good young core to build around.

Im not so sure, Curry doesn't play defense much better than Murphy and he is a much worse rebounder. Not to mention both will be BYC and both teams are over the cap.

"The Bulls also could try to swing a deal with another NBA team, assuming Curry would go along with it. The Warriors, Grizzlies and Sonics all have long been interested in Curry. Golden State's Troy Murphy, for example, would fill Chicago's need for a sweet-shooting big man with whom to run the pick and roll (and he's a Notre Dame alum like Paxson). The Warriors, meanwhile, have rookie power forward Ike Diogu, whom they took with the No. 9 pick in last month's draft. But Diogu is probably not ready yet to step in as a full-time starter at power forward, and Murphy is a base-year compensation player, making him almost impossible to trade to a team like Chicago that is over the salary cap." If the Bulls do want a "sweet-shooting big man" RAdmonovic would be a great fit, he can shoot, put the ball on the floor and wants a big contract.

This is interesting here. However with Curry's heart problems, contract, and above all atitude, I'm not sure I want him here with Biedrins to clog up more minutes at C

This move would probably give the Warriors a much better chance at the Pacific Division Championship. They already have a great team, and with the way they drafted, just made it even better.

It would also give us a much better chance at being the two time defending champs of the worst rebounders in the league, not to mention we dont need Curry with a huge contract when we have our C and PFs of the future developing (Biedrins, Diogu, Taft, Z). I'd rather have Murphy's 5 more rebounds than Curry's 5 more points. Also if we didn't get rid of Foyle in the trade then it would make our logjam C significantly worse.

I don't think based on the rules it could happen. But if it did then....

I'm split. Obviously, Troy Murphy is a real winner, but the upside is definitely in Curry's side of the court. Would we want to take on a guy who can one day be super dominant in the post, drawing all sorts of double teams or will he be strictly a suped up version of Olowakandi with only flashes of being a top big man a la Erick Dampier?

On paper his physical skills look great. He's got the size and athleticism, scores real well, but plays a lot smaller in a lot of aspects of his game. Doesn't d-up, doesn't rebound real well, travels a lot or loses the ball, isn't a huge shotblocker, and has a tendency to lose concentration. Worst of all he's got a health problem that could be serious later on. I remember he was even one dimensional in fantasy league basketball and I thought he was pretty one dimensional now.

If I can get Murphy for Curry (and if Curry signs similar contract to Murphy), I would do that deal in a heartbeat. Murphy is walking double double machine, but you just don't get a quality center that often...

Im with you, the Warriors have plenty of scoring and not enough defense and rebounding. Curry would only make our rebounding worse.

His attitude in my opinion is the least you have to worry about with him. In fact (though others may disagree) I feel he is wrongly tagged with the reputation of a player who is a slacker and/or does not play up to his potential. This off-season he did everything that was asked of him by the Chicago Bulls organization they asked him to loss some weight, and get in shape. He went out, and got into the best shape of his career. Only thing he really complained about all season was being on the bench during key stretches of games, and is that really something that should be counted against him? I do not think so it just shows he wants to contribute, and be that guy who helps the team down the stretch. He proved this season he can be that solid low post threat that a team is looking for on offense he can draw double teams with his size, and skill down low allowing others to be left open.

One of the biggest knocks on his game is his rebounding ability right now for a player his size he is really a below average rebounder. That is something I think he can improve with time. He is still pretty young so has plenty of time to improve that. He is also working on losing more weight this off-season to make him quicker, and give him better mobility in the post. A lot of knocks on Curry are really wrongly formed at times. Right now this kid is still only 24 years old he would have just been coming into the league if he had gone to college. Yet he led a playoff team in scoring, was ranked fifth in the league in shot percentage, and is a pretty good passing big man for his size.

He is way ahead of the game not behind if you look at it from that angle. He could very well average twenty points next season, and if he improves his rebounding ability he is top three at the center position weather he remains in the eastern conference or the western conference. I have said it before, and am not shy about saying it again I believe this kid when Shaq retires will be the best center in the eastern conference (if he remains a Bull). He is worth the risk for any team right now in my opinion look at players who got a chance to prove what they had Grant Hill, Vince Carter, etc. All player who had been written off, because of their health both Grant and Vince were all stars last season. Also those players had numerous injury whittled seasons Curry has only really had a heart problem which although very serious he was medically cleared from. So why does he not deserve to be taken a risk on?

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting sactomofo:</div><div class="quote_post"> Maybe im in the minority on this one but I would rather keep Troy than add Curry. I guess thats just me</div>
You know what I actually agree with you on that one at this point he is better than Curry. Like I said above Curry is a pretty mediocre rebounder right now in his career for a player his size. He is however, a prolific scorer, and will be a much better player than Murphy, as there careers progress. Murphy in my opinion has reached the highest point he will reach in his career right now his scoring average might improve a little, for one or two seasons, but not by much. Curry has not even begun to scratch the glass on his full potential. Like I said before at the age of 24 he lead a playoff team in scoring, and could very well be a twenty point a game scorer next season. I do not want to be the GM to pass that up if I have a chance to get him.

Anyway back to looking at this from a Bulls fan perspective I would not do this trade. We are not a team that has any of our players near it?s prime yet. However, we are still a playoff team we can afford to wait on Curry for a while, and let him develop with Gordon, Hinrich, Chandler, and Deng. We are in no dire need of a double double machine though it is always nice we have Chandler who takes care of that for us. Also another reason I would not do this is because neither Murphy, nor Chandler are ?pure centers? that is the rarest thing to find in the NBA now a days. Chandler showed in the playoffs that he could not anchor a defense from inside because he does not have the post moves or body size to draw double teams. Troy would struggle with facing Shaq (who doesn?t but still) and others if we place him there.

As a final note in this post I would just like to say ? CURRY WILL BE A BULL IN 06?!

I agree with you on alot of points there BKS. I agree that Murphy is pretty much at the peak of his game and that Curry will be a better player but isnt right now. I ont think that Curry will improve that much on the boards though, he will probably get it up to 8 rpg but i think rebounding cant really be taught, you either get them or you dont and if you do then it translates to any level of competition.

I frankly doubt Curry will someday take an interest in rebounds and D,on the other hand I expect Murphy to make steady improvements wherever his game is lacking. I'd just as soon play Troy at C as Curry. While we want to be in the market for C help,we should either find a bargain sleeper, like DJ Mbenga,or wait until there's a guy who REALLY has the full package, and then we break the bank. If we add Curry at a max deal and he is a bad fit,or has health issues,we got troubles. If Foyle only gets part-timer minutes, his game gets a bit erratic-and any possible deal of him is out. Fish will still have his fat deal-and we may be giving Pietrus,Zarko pretty decent $ if,as expected, they keep improving. The "best case" scenario with Curry could be pretty good,it's true, but I don't like the odds.

Besides, it's better to wait for Biedrins [IMG] In maybe about 4 years, he's going to start owning people.

Any version of Taft who starts here will be a lot different than the guy we got on draft day. IF Taft suddenly got Foyle's hustle,Mullins work ethic,he could start before the seasons end-that happens the day before Wilt climbs out of the grave to reclaim the center job [IMG]

Andy B has a nice high energy game, seems eager to learn and improve. Will Taft become a quick learner or play with focus and effort? [IMG]

I hear ya. But if it happens you can all say I called it. I think Taft will be motivated by what happened on draft day. Obviously the guy has some stuff because he was highly touted this year and last year. People thought he could be a #1 pick. He just has to work hard. We will see. I am most likely wrong, but if it does happen we will all be happy....
