Im not sure bout trading Bobby Jackson, but it is nice.
I've read that this allows the Jazz to become the frontrunners in the race to get Sarunas. It makes a little more sense now...
I like this deal. Bonzi Wells. A Shooting Guard. Nice attitude. Good shooter. Some defense. Bibby, Wells, Peja, Thomas, Miller. Next move, Power Foward?
Assuming the Kings lose Peja after this season this deal makes it less painful.Got something in return for Jackson and put Ostertags 4 million to use.The starting 5 is looking good.
well the good pf's in this years crop are already taken so if i was the kings I would wait until next offsoeason, and I'd also try and shop Peja around near the deadline.q
we could always trade a package of Thomas and Williamson, and whatever else we got for a better pf. anything is possible with the way Petrie moves his players. This also brings some questions. Who will back up Bibby? Will they bring back Eddie House? Or Will they sign Gary Payton, Marko Jaric, or Juan Dixon?

The only difference? Giant Midget isn't on my case about how he's willing to bet Jackson is a King next year, and how this is his home, and so on and so fourth. Told you so? Good enough for me I think this deal pretty much marks the end of Peja in a Sacramento uniform. No doubt about it, the guys wants out. He's contract is nearly up and with Bonzi's ability to play the 3 postion if needed, Peja is likely gone. Perhaps they could pull off a nice deal and bring in a nice shooting guard like Paul Pierce or maybe bring in Corey Maggette. I defintely think he'll be marketed all summer and perhaps even traded before the season beings.
^Haha.I see youve taken a certain amount of satisfaction. Our difference was about Bobby Jacksons contract being up though,or atleast I assumed thats what you meant by Jackson not being a King next year.I'll take the L though.
im glad to see bobby maybe getting a start but i loved bobby..when he wasnt injured..he was so perfect as a back up
The kings finally get rid of their injury prone PG and receive Bonzi Wells. A solid contributer off the bench. But if the Kings start him in SG, Will he have a big effect? Maybe he's better off the bench than starting. We'll see.
here are some oddball stats for you to chew on. vs. Sac Wells is 52% from the field and perfect from 3pt range, has a 1.7 a/to ratio, but cant sink a ft (he is .500 vs Sac in the ft department) He has a better shooting% from the floor after the all star break but is MUCH worse from 3pt range after the break (drops from .380 to .240) He can really shoot on a thursday (.600 from the floor and .750 from 3pt range) but you dont want him anywhere near you on a sunday (.354 from the floor and .000-that is not a typo... from 3pt range) aint split stats fun?
ok.. so here is how I see it. BJax.. great player, instant energy, one of the local markets favorites. won a 6th man award and has never been mired in any real controversy to speak of. Also missed the last 30 games the year before last and only played in 25 games this year. At what point do you say that this guy, while a great guy and a solid talent, isnt going to be much help if he is always injured. He was a non-factor in the locker room by being neither a liability nor a stabalizing factor so you really cant consider that being involved in this either. But the Kings do get younger, more athletic and most importantly for them (see sig) less injuries. Wells has only missed 30 games in the past three years which by comparison aint that bad. They also get someone who may be on the last leg of their career. its worked in Sac before... take Webber for example... or how about Jon Barry? and who remembers that the Lakers and Toronto were not really high on Christie during his stints with those two teams and he was labled "uncoachable". If anyone can produce a diamond in the rough using Wells as the material, its clearly this team. Ostertag will also be making a departure from the Kings. Nice guy, bad FT shooter (and I mean really bad... so bad in fact that at home games, the crowd would go absolutely NUTTY LOUD if he made one... just ONE for the entire game). This guy had such a bad FT shot that my spleen literally exploded one day in a vain attempt to keep me from watching him try to shoot from the line... he had the markers that would have indicated that he could really make a difference with this team, but he just never seemed to get into the swing of things. too bad too...he was a great to talk to and was a great practical joker. Overall, I think this will actually work for the Kings in the long run. No matter which way you look at it, the Kings can benifit from Wells presensce. Gels with the team and produces? Petrie looks like a genious (yet again). Doesnt gel and Petrie packages him up and sends him off for some real talent? again Petrie looks like a genious. Even if this guy really does bring nothing to the Kings, its only a one year deal left so you are not roped into having to do something with him in the future. And just like deals in years past, The fans of Sacramento hate it beyond belief (the polls that the local news outlets did show fans dont like this trade by an overwhelming 67%) and Petrie is being cautiously optimistic about it... sounds just like the Webber trade, the Bibby trade and the Christie trade. People werent too happy about bringing Jon Barry or Vlade Divac in at the time either... in fact for some reason just about every single move that Petrie makes the local fans dislike at first then have to eat crow about it later... Im inclined to push the crow aside this time and see how this really shakes out before I say that its not a good move.
Its ironic that Jackson gets stuck behind Jason Williams again. As for the trade, Jackson is a crap shoot and as much as I love him, Eddie House is the same type of player at one fifth the price. If they resign him and then pick up a guy like Dixon or maybe even Payton, the Kings will be fine in the backcourt. Losing Ostertag is a case of addition by subtraction as he contributed nothing to the team and took up 5 mil of cap space to do so. Wells is a 3 shooting 2 guard who can defend and whose better years in the L seem to be ahead of him. Sounds like a good fit to me. If the Kings want to keep Peja as I assume they do, then they should try and package Thomas and Williamson in an attempt to get a 10-23 ranking PF. If they could do that, then the Kings should be able to hover around the 50 win mark once again if they can have a healthy Miller and a comitted Wells and Peja.
Shrewd addition by the Kings landing Bonzi Wells. I think the Kings is a perfect situation for Wells, because they run the type of offense he thrives in. Bonzi Wells enjoys catching the ball deep in the post and bullying around the SF or SG trying to guard him. With the way the Kings move the ball on offense and pass it around, Wells should get a lot of high percentage shots to keep him interested in the game. It also allows the Kings to shop Peja if Wells works out at SF and Garcia can find his shooting stroke from 3pt land.
Im already feeling anxious to see what element Bonzi brings to the team and how big of an effect he'll have.On the subject of losing Jackson not being a huge deal because of Eddie House,I dont feel anywhere near as comfortable when House is running the point as I do when Bobby is.I feel like when Bobby comes into replace Bibby its not much of a step down and the team plays harder. In the end though,House is a solid backup beast of a point guard.*EDIT*Sactomofo, are you trying to say Kenny Thomas isnt in the 10-23 range of PF rankings.I know hes only 6'7,but 14 and 8 has to be in the 10-23 range.
