<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Cavaliers forward Drew Gooden has been rumored to be on the block and yet again it appears he has been traded. 19 Actions News in Cleveland, Ohio reported on it's newscast last night that Gooden would be traded to the Los Angeles Clippers with guard Marko Jaric being signed and traded to Cleveland along with prehaps forward Chris Wilcox being included in the deal. If Gooden is indeed traded, the Clippers would behis 4th team in as many seasons.</div> http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/367...pped_for_jaric/
From the Clippers standpoint, this was a good trade...Wilcox was becoming a problem and Jaric wasn't in their future plans and they were gonna lose him anyways... Essientially, the Clipps got Gooden for Wilcox, which I will take ... Although I'm not a big fan of Gooden, he could be a nice spark off the bench..

Gooden would be a good backup for Brand. Jaric wouldnt be such a loss since LAC is fulled with guards. They get bigger with this deal. Which is what they needed. I wouldnt be surprised if this deal didnt go down since LAC seems to be in every trade rumor.
this is a good trade for both teams..even tho i think cavs are desperate for guards..marko would be an okay fit..i believe if wilcox continues to grow he be dominant for the cavs..as for the clipps gives my boy-boy Shaun an gurrantee starting position..plus it gives the clipps a lil extra sumthin in the hustle department and the boards..good trade overall to me
^ Livingston was already going to start this season unless he got injured or something... Gooden seems to lose a little "edge" when coming off the bench, and is a guy that so far as shown that he needs a starting spot in order to be effective. He's a great energy guy, and has very good skills, but coming off the bench, I doubt how effective he will be.
Good trade for Cleaveland. They get everything they need in this trade; a true PG who can hit the three, and a back-up bruiser PF/C though he probably doesn't rebound enough for there liking. Clips get a good back-up who has a nice J and a good rebounder and a great shooter. Neither team loses much, Wilcox was essentially a poor man's brand and Telfair was starting for LAC no matter what. Good trade for both teams.
^ Wilcox is not a bruiser. While he's athletic, and has some good offensive moves, he's not a good defender, shot blocker, rebounder, and he's far from being a bruiser. He's also not a good center, which is one of the main reasons he didn't get PT.
wait, i dont get this trade. isnt elton brand already playing the power forward spot? with gooden coming in, does it mean brand will be playing center?? then what about chris kaman?? or is gooden just coming off the bench?? if gooden is coming off the bench, then his role would pretty much be like chris wilcox's role, which is getting limited playing time behind brand. IMO, this trade isn too good for the clippers. they shouldve tried to get a small forward to replace brian simmons. but then again, that's my opinion.
Gooden is coming in as a backup, and the trade is not finalized, it's really just a rumour. Anyways, Jaric wants to leave because he wants to be a starter, and he won't get that here, so it's just trying to get something back for him as opposed to losing him for nothing.
Gooden can be great but he can also suck big time. He's seriously one of the most inconsistent player around. I had him in fantasy bball last season and it just kills me how he can put up 16pts and 15rbs game and have like 5 and 3 the very next game. Stats aside, I don't know if this is a good trade for LA because we only need a decent PF, and as mentioned Gooden needs alot of PT to be effective. Yes, I agree also with phiLA in that we should've gotten a SF instead of another PF.. but then again, Clippers are known to make confusing trades/drafts. Remember in 2002 when we drafted 2 PFs (Wilcox and Melvin Ely) when we already had Elton Brand and another PF (forgot his name).
Don't like it. Gooden averaged a double-double last year. If you're going to trade him, why not get back something close to that. Plus, Gooden is still young and his potential hasn't even reached it's max.
