Hopefully we can land Hunter or Davis.
I would love to have steven hunter he is a good defensive player who can rebound and can help sammy out if he comes back. And he is a good back up player that can come off the bench a provide energy.
Sign Hunter. What can be more dangerous then the two most athletic centers in the league on the same team? I watched Hunter close in Phoenix last season, and he makes the most of him minutes when ever he gets into the game. His numbers were poor last season because he was backing up Amare and Shawn Marion. But I can tell you, when he gets into the game, he is a shot blocking machine.
Steven Hunter would be a great pickup IMO, like CK said Hunter is just a shot blocking machine, very athletic and an overall good defender. He provide a great backup to Sam(if he re-signs that is.) and if Sam leaves we can start Hunter.
Very nice move by 76ers, if this is going to happen. Steven Hunter is very much like Samuel Dalembert, the 76ers starting center. This can also be a chance for Hunter to redeem himself by getting some minutes. Personally, I wanted Hunter in Sacramento, seems like he'd be a good fit there. But, he is probably a better fit in Philadelphia.
Hunter would be great he's a good defender and can get open down low i watched alot of his games he's pretty impressive
i wouldnt mind this addition, but if we could get reggie evans instead of hunter, IMO, that would be great.
Dale Davis? Davis as in Dale Old Davis? No please dont hope for him! I dont care how good he seemed to be late last year on Indy, please no! Hunter is younger, and much much better value.

But at time like this where the Sixers are deperate for a big body even Davis would do and no matter how old he is there aren't many big bodies out there avaliable for our choosing.
I'm all for this, the only player that I would go for ahead of him is Reggie Evans. Hunter offers athleticism, youth, and defense- all perfect for this teams needs in transitioning into a team for the future. Like everyone said above, Steven Hunter is a great shot blocker and has pretty good defense. The only part of his game that I really question at this point is his offense. Much of his points were from putbacks, dunks, or passes from Steve Nash so I'm just questioning his post up game. Of course, that can pretty much be fixed from good coaching so there isn't much to worry about.
^ Hopefully coaching can help those butter fingers of his. If there was a stat for unforced turnovers Hunter would easily be ranked # 1. I can't count how many times Nash gave him a good pass and he would just lose the ball, this was not only on the Suns he often kept doing the same thing during this stint with the Magic's.

I remember watching a highlight on Sportscenter and Nash gave a no look pass to Steven Hunter and it nailed Hunter right in the head. I started howling.

With about a couple seconds left on the clock, Steve Nash shoots a jumper, misses, then Hunters there for the putback dunk. However, he over slams it and the ball flies out. It was hilarious.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting phiLA:</div><div class="quote_post">so hunter's basically like a poor man's dalembert right?</div> Hunter is pretty good, thats an insult, Dalembert is a very good center, Hunter is pretty good too, he just needs to prove to the coaches he can be a 30 min a game center instead of 15 - 20, he's very young too, born in 81

As we know he doesn't get many minutes but when he does he makes the most out of it and that's not always a good thing. The way it seems it seems if he gets overzealous and he can't do little things such as catching a ball, he tries too hard to make something big happen but let the minor things affect his game. If he can relax and take things slow and steady those butter fingers may longer be there and his court awarness may improve because that's another department where he is also really lacking in.
What happens to marc jackson if you guys sign hunter? all of a sudden you have a lot of money locked up in jackson and hunter, i think you could spend it better. or if you really wanna sign hunter, trade jackson at least.
Jackson can back up Webber at PF as we don't really have another credible PF besides Webber, since we traded most of our PFs FOR Webber..

This is like trading for mutumbo all over again. Or drafting Bradley or even Sharone Wright (remember him). Steven Hunter is available, and he seems to be intrested with the Sixers. He will make a great backup for Sammy, they are basically the same thing....but hopefully not the same in foul trouble.
Hunter would be a nice addition and give us some front court depth which would be great. He is athletic and a solid role player, he can block and adjust shots and rebound. He can get up and down the court well which suits our game plan because we are much better in a transition game than setting it up in the half court. He has shown he can polay transition, like in Phoenix so he may fit very well for us. Hopefully, he could continue his growth and become even better.
