They have either cooled on Flip, or are convinced SEA is going to match and don't want to tie any money up and waste their time. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/scor....nba/index.html [Kiki] Vandeweghe confirmed he has offered Denver free-agent shooting guard Greg Buckner a one-year contract, but didn't disclose the amount. Buckner's agent, Steve Kaufmann, has previously said he would like a good portion of the midlevel exception for his client. The Nuggets' offer isn't believed to be close to that level. Detroit also has interest in the 6-4, 210-pound guard, while Miami is keeping tabs on the situation. --Denver Post
Fair enough, obviously they have Hodge too, and Lenard coming back. I wonder if they'll bring back Dermarr.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Casual:</div><div class="quote_post">You don't not sign Flip because you have Greg Buckner.</div> Maybe not, but if Buckner is signed for even 1 million a next year - thats a million less the could have offered Flip if they were really serious about him. And if they were, they'd be attempting to give him as much as possible in order to entice SEA not to match. The article mentions his agent saying he wanted a good portion of the MLE for his client, while this is likely just posturing - its at least a good indication that the minimum wouldn't be accepted. Try and look at the big picture.

Now for the real answer to the Nuggets' two-guard problems: Michael Finley. Don't bother sorting through all the other names swirling around. It's all about Finley. If, as expected, he is waived by the Mavs so they can save money against the NBA's luxury tax, the Nuggets figure to be on his short list. That's short list as in teams he would consider playing for, not teams interested in having him. </div> Denver Post.
