I'd take TD over Shaq. I would also like to point out that TD has won his rings without another Superstar like Kobe or Shaq has. Nobody in the Spurs were at the same superstars level as Kobe or Shaq, not even close. Robinson was on the decline in the 1st run for the ring. You could make a case for Ginobili today, but he didn't start breaking out until later this year, and even then he's still nowhere near Kobe or Shaq in terms of their superstar status. Kobe at his prime is far better than Ginobili is, at least so far. Who knows how good Ginobili can become in the coming years but I digress. The point I'm trying to make here is that the Spurs built their franchise around one and only one player: Tim Duncan. Hate to bring His Airness's name in here, but even the great MJ needed Pippen. Kobe needed Shaq. Shaq needed Kobe. TD needed only marginally good teammates. So that's why I'd take TD over Shaq or Kobe, because you only need a good team to win championships with him, you don't need to fill the team up with another superstar.
Im assuming we choose from the lists in the first post, and if thats the case then my leader would be TD
I would take LeBron hands down. He will be the best player in the leauge for many years to come. LeBron's game has a little bit of everything. He's versitale, can take the ball to the basket, makes plays for others, plays good defense and can rebound. LeBron is just such an amazing athlete and basketball player. I would build a team around him because of his talent and vast potential.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VinsanityVC15:</div><div class="quote_post">ginobli cuz he can shoot and drive and open up other people</div> Any team who builds a franchise around a mediocore Ginobli is destined for lottery.
I would take amare he averaged 30+ points in the playoffs and 10+ rebounds. Plus he's only in his 3rd season, talk about potential.

If you want to argue with me about Ginobili's effect on a team, let's go. However, you'd lose.
Here are the guys who I think would be most useful starting a new team 1. Lebron 2. duncan 3. t mac 4. garnett 5. wade
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Terminator-X:</div><div class="quote_post">PICK: SHAQ !! REASON : er.......it`s self explanatory!</div> you for real would pick a 33 year old shaq to start a franchise than a 21 year old lebron or 23 year old wade? thats risky. he'd give you a couple good year but then you'd be stuck.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting H.ayes:</div><div class="quote_post">So nowadays mediocre is 2 time NBA Champion, Olympic Champion and World Champion?</div> Ginobli is a warrior. A stud if you will. But I don't think he's a franchise player. I personally think he's a super star....but not franchise in my opinion. He has more heart than some of the others posted below though.

Hell, you could give Shaq Micheal Redd and the Bucks would look serious.

He by no means is a franchise player. The league wants so bad to have a superstar who isn't urban, that they'll overhype anybody who's last name isn't Johnson, Williams, or Jones.lol. If you take Tim Duncan off the Spurs, and make Ginobli the first option, his game will change dramitically. He's pretty good, but he's nowhere better than Kobe, Duncan, Tmac, Garnett, Dirk or Amare. Keep prayin

You hate to see it go up cause you know it's going in.
For sure, I would have to pick Tim Duncan. Unless I saw the definite next Jordan, I would never build my team around a guard. Duncan is a sure Hall of Famer who's still in his prime. He's got all the intangibles you'd want in your franchise player, and makes his teammates better.
Unless that guard is LeBron or a young Nash or Kidd, i would build my team around a guard. But my pick is Amare.
