Williams, the Jazz's first-round pick in the NBA draft, averaged 9.3 points and 3.7 assists in six games during the Rocky Mountain Revue, which concluded Friday night.
Although his numbers weren't overwhelming, Williams' professional debut was a success, according to the coaches and teammates.
"He grew," said assistant Scott Layden. "That's what these camps are all about."
Said Robert Whaley, a second-round pick: "Deron is unbelievable. I wouldn't trade him in for nobody."
Williams started every game for the Jazz, who finished 3-3 in the Rocky Mountain Revue.
Although he shot only 40.3 percent and fouled at a rate of once every 6.3 minutes, Williams seemed to get more comfortable as the summer league progressed. </div>

Glad to hear it. I would love to see this guy succeed mightily and watch the Jazz return to Sloan's usual display of leadership cunning. I find myself a little nostalgic watching them draft a significant point guard and grow him in Sloan's philosophy. Here's to hoping he can catch on and shine in this league.
