Lets say you got both rookies and you can only keep 1 which one would you keep? Also next season which rookie will have a bigger impact..

Wow, that's a toughy. I'd like to see a season from them first, but without the benefit of foresight, I would say keep Green, but I think Gomes will have a bigger impact this year. Depending on whether the C's want to continue using Pierce as a 3 because of the presence of Tony Allen, which I think they will and should, I would say that Gomes could be a starter by the end of the season. I know that sounds tough to swallow now, but in another couple months, who knows? I'm only basing that on their lack of depth at the 3, but with Pierce there playing forty minutes a night, it's not really an issue. If, for some totally inexplicable reason, the C's feel TA needs to sit the bench at some point, Gomes could end up being a starting 3. Either him or Reed anyway, which I would love to see.

I see Gerald Green as having more potential to fill a longer term need, but I also see Gomes as having the ability to fill in a roster slot now, which is a good problem to have, regardless.

    Green and Gomes

If I could only keep one I would keep Green. I think he has the better future and will develop into an All-Star in the next three or four seasons. I see Green being Boston's centerpeice in years to come.

Green will have an instant impact next season. He will start at the Small Forward position and contribute greatly. He is a stocky and muscular Small Forward so he will be able to outrebound other Small Forwards. He will also be able to outmuscle them in the post. I can see Gomes taking other Small Forwards in the post for most of his scoring. The opposing teams more muscular perimeter player will also have to defend Gomes, which as a result will open things up for Pierce on the perimeter. Gomes will be an instant assest and cntributer next season.

It depends on what the Celtics want, if they decide they want to win now they will keep Ryan Gomes. But if they decide they want to win three years from now they will keep Gerald Green. If this is the case, they I would say the Celtics are built for the future and Gerald Green will be a better player three years down the road.

Ryan Gomes will make a bigger impact as a rookie because he will get more playing time then Gerald Green and possibly even start. Plus coming out as a senior in college, Gomes is physically ready to take his game to the NBA level.

Agreed, but I think I'm starting to resolve this starting situation in my head. It seems that Allen will probably start again at the 2, thanks to a good summer, and that means Pierce starts at the 3, therefore making Gomes a bench player to start the year. That sounds a little better to me now.

I would keep Gomes. Green is talented as heck but hes super raw, too. gomes is a polished player and he can play more than one forward spot, and can defend a little too. all we know green can do is look good when hes dunking. i'd take Gomes cuz he will contribute right away and can create just as many matchup problems as green and hes a finished product.

I would keep Green because he has more potential and the celtics are building for the future. As for next season i think Gomes will have better rookie season. But that doesn't really matter because they aren't going to win the championship next season. And they need someone that may develop down the road into a great player such as Green.

as the way i see it now, you guys are trying to rebuild. that's because you guys have a lot of draft picks and a lot of young players. in that case, i would keep green, because he is going to be an awesome player later on in his career, along with all the other youngsters you have. either way, you all will be a dangerous team in the future. i'm looking forward to my sixers and your celtics games.
