<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Nets president Rod Thorn has made "several offers" to free agents, including point guard Milt Palacio, according to a Nets source. After losing point guard Keyon Dooling to Orlando last week, the Nets hope to land two role players with some of their $5 million mid-level exception while saving maybe half of it for a potential amnesty clause casualty like Allan Houston, Michael Finley or Brian Grant. Palacio, who played for Toronto last season, is the man the Nets want to back up Jason Kidd. Other free agents the Nets likely have made offers to include Indiana power forward Dale Davis and Houston guard Jon Barry. The Nets, who have had discussions with Portland's Damon Stoudamire as well, will wait until late next month to see which high-priced veterans will be released under the new clause in the collective bargaining agreement that allows teams to save luxury tax.</div> NY Post

Truly the greatest of all time.</div> I was so excited to see them get Dooling, despite the fact that I'm a Sixers fan. If they get Dale Davis, I can definitely see them contending for a finals spot.
I used to hate Palacio ever since this happen: The Nets are up by two, about three seconds remaining. To win, all they need to do is inbound the ball and hold it. Lucios Harris inbounds. Palacio steals the ball, runs, falls, chucks up a shot (five feet outside of the three point line), and the Nets lose. That occurred in the season prior to Kidd's arrival. If the Nets get Palacio, I shall forgive him.

He'd be in the NBDL.

But it seems as tho, Palacio is very much interested in coming to Jersey. And the Nets have him listed high because he is cheap to obtain...I think that is the only reason Rod Thorn is going after him so hard...Barry would take up to much of the MLE. And Chris Duhon is looking for more money then Palacio as well, and is likely going back to Chicago. So that leaves Palacio.

I don't like Milt, think he's worse than Jacque Vaughn. I heard that Milt's one of VC's best friends and is one of the reasons NJ has been looking at him... I read that the Nets were thinking about signing Jannero Pargo. I like that prospect better than Milt because he's a better shooter, overall offensive game and can play some 2.

So that left the Nets with limited options and three big holes to fill backup pg, a shooter, and another bigman. The Nets now want Dale Davis...which means they will have to take the cheaper route when getting a backup for Kidd, that means the likes of Earl Watson, Damon Stoudmire are out. Barry is most likely out as well because of money reasons...so that leaves you with the low tier guys like Palacio, Pargo, Blake. And out of those guys Nets seem to view Palacio in the highest regard probably because of the way he has played against us in his career. he has had some good showings. Plus I read an article that the Nets are trying to save a little money left over so they can go after one of those big name cuts that will happen under the new collective bargining agreement....right now the name Allan Houston is floating around alot.
wow ....its amazing how much unsubstantiated information you can get from articles from sportswriters like stephen "a" smith and chad "BS" ford i thought your sources might have been people who actually knew anything about the topic they were writing about (i.e team officials)

Milt is the man, people hate on him too much, but he's really sick. I don't know hwat use he would be to the Nets though except that he'll be at Vince's house bothering him all the time lol.
