Go with me on this one for a moment....

June 4th 2006 Los Angeles California Staples Center
It is 30 minutes before tip off in the most surprising NBA finals in the history of the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers vs. The New York knicks. Both teams overcame every single expectation bestowed upon them and climbed through their respective conferences. Both clubs snuck in with the 7th seed, and went on to upset every single oponent in very close, down to the wire series.

Neither team was expected to make the playoffs, let alone win a series. Obviously, both teams did that- and more. This series marks the first time in 43 years that two teams will meet in the finals after winning less than 50 games each. The lakers finished the year with a 47-35 record, the Knicks with a 42- 41.

Up for grabs is an NBA record 10 championships for Legendary Coach Phil Jackson, or a awe inspiring success story for Larry Brown and the Knicks. No matter who wins the series, it will go down in league History. It is also a chance for the Lakers SG Kobe Bryant to re-establish himself as the NBA's top all around player, as well as a respected Leader.

No matter what the outcome Kobe Bryant has silenced all doubters with his best season as a pro. Averaging a league leading 31.2 ppg 8.0 rbs and 6.6 assists he stole the MVP award from deserving candidates like Shaquille O'Neal, Dwayne Wade, and the usual suspects Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan.

It is now seconds before tip- off- let history begin.

*Just thinking how epic this would all be....what do u think?

I don't get it, was this like a dream you had or something? If the Knicks and Lakers meet in the NBA finals, then I would leave this forum forever.

A LOT would have to happen before that became a reality.

I respect Phil Jackson much more than Larry Brown. As a matter of fact, I think Larry Brown is way too aragant for a coach with a resume like that. He is one of those who thinks they need to be the star of the show. It's true that he takes sub-par teams and makes them better, but in his entire NBA career, how many rings has he won?? Just one. Phil has an impressive 9, but Phil had talent to work with I'll admit. But to the point, Larry hops to new teams too much to be truly considered great.

Larry is GREAT and I really do mean GREAT but the last thing he likes are chuckers and guys who shoot alot of threes. He does however love guys who are willing to defend. Are many NY players willing to do that? I have to wonder how long It is before he is pulling out what is left of his hair.

Larry's ability to go to differen't teams and help them all improve is what makes him such a great coach. It seems like any team he coaches improves greatly.

I agree completely, they greatly improve when he coaches. BUT he only got the job done ONCE! His best year obviously was 2003-04 when he won the finals, unless you count the 2000-2001 and this years finals, but in the end so far he has only had one successful year. If he takes the Knicks to the finals, win or lose, then I will give more credit to Brown than what I have been giving him to this date.

Well Jerry Sloan is one of the great coaches of all time, but he hasn't won a championship. It doesn't take anything away from what he has done.
