The following is analysis of the interview taken from other Maverick forums.

says, he doesn't know when they will be able to announce anything. The league said "don't call us, we'll call you when you can do/say something". Also said "we have a few suprises up our sleeves" Keeps talking about getting someone at the 2-3 spot who is "versitile, not just a shooter". Thinks Powell can fill the role Najera had a few years ago, but more athletic and a better jump shot. Povell probably will be in the NBDL, but he really likes his progress. Thinks Devin will be a minny Kevin Johnson. Also talked about seperating friendship from business and how loyalty is shown not only during a players career, but also after, hence all the ex-mavs in the organization and on the bench.</div>

Cuban was in studio with Bob and Dan just now. Good, long, broad-ranging interview. The two nuggets I picked up were these:

--Talking about the swing positions, he more than once described the guy they need as "versatile." He talked about the difference in AJ's coaching style as compared to Nellie's. When asked if they needed a shooter there, he said they need a versatile guy who can also shoot, not someone who will stand in the corner and shoot threes.

I got the impression he was describing a player they already have on the way here, rather than some ideal that they have in mind, when he responded to a question about when moves could become official by saying:

--"We'll have a surprise or two up our sleeves. We just can't give away the goods yet." He had that smirky kind of voice going, and Bob commented that he had a big grin on his face.

Earlier in the studio he had rationalized why somebody would trade for Finley, explaining that if that team was going to give a guy a $33MM contract (MLE, I guess) and also had $15MM or so worth of contracts sitting around, then that's the same $50MM or so.

I don't know. I get the impression they may have a deal already done, though.</div>

Cuban may be waiting on the new CBA to be signed before he makes his move.

Well he all, but said Finley is going to be dumped or traded by the start of next season. I wonder who they plan on bringing in at the 2-3 spot, I thought Josh Howard was going to be the future at the swing position, plus they still have Stackhouse coming off the bench. I think Cuban needs to stop tinkering with the lineup and let the team build some cohesiveness. The team lost Steve Nash last year, Finley will be gone this year, Dirk has to be wondering if he's next at this point.
