I had this idea looking at the other thread about Finley.

Where do you want him to go? Do you think he could benefit your team? Think of some good trades that you think would work out for each team. Big men, good back-ups, whatever.

THEY MUST INVOLVE MICHAEL FINLEY, but you can put whoever else you want in them also. Try to keep them realistic [IMG] .

Also, it would be nice if they would work cap-wise. (www.realgm.com to check)

I want to hear your most creative offers... Trade away!

Wait, did they do that Allan Houston clause on him yet? I'm still confused on the details.

Charlie Ward, Moochie Norris, Vin Baker, Clarence Weatherspoon from Houston for Michael Finley. It gives Dallas a bunch of expiring contracts to relieve cap space (although its going to take much more than that) while giving Houston a perfect third option to complement McGrady and Yao. I don't know if Dallas would do this but I'm pretty sure Houston would go for it in a heartbeat. Its not creative, but I think it works for both teams.

No, that didn't happen yet. They are still shopping him around in hopes of getting something for him before they "Allan Houston clause" him. Inr reality, no one will trade for Finley alone when they could get him for a fraction of the money he is owed now if they wait.

Anyone know if Shawn Bradley's contract still counts against the salary cap if he retires?

Also the Mavs were in talks of buying out Tariq Abdul Wahad, if they do or did already, what impact does it have on the Mavs salary cap?

The Mavs also have KVH's expiring contract coming off this year at $15M, and Jason Terry at $7.5M

Assuming all those do not count by the end of the year the Mavs will have $35,006,750.

KVH - $15,694,250
Bradley - $4,500,000
Tariq - $7,312,500
JT - $7,500,000
DJ Mbenga - $1,760,000

Total is $36,766,750

The new luxury tax threshold is at $61.5M, so if these assumptions are right, then the Mavs actually don't need to waive Finley at all, because they are under the luxury tax threshold.

Successful Scenario
Due to Chicago and Dallas being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Chicago and Dallas had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

--------------------

This trade would allow Michael Finley to return home to Chicago, and would also give the Mavs a expiring deal, as well as a sharp shooting veteran who I had to toss in to make it work.

I was hoping that the Mavs would send finley to the Magic for a couple of expiring contracts but with Fran gone it probaly won't happen.
