Has anyone thought about the 76ers possibly bringing in Theo Ratliff to fill their need for a bigger body in the front court coming off the bench. He still is owed 11.6 million dollars each of the next three seasons in his contract. Which makes him a prime candidate for the Blazers to waive due to the amnesty rule in the collective bargaining agreement. We could possibly get him for the mid level exception should that happen, because there are not that many other teams who are still under the cap that would be interested in him. He was here half of the 2001 season when we went to the finals. Before we shipped him off to Atlanta so he is familiar with the team. He would also allow us to bring in another great shot blocker off the bench when Dalembert got tired. If we did go after him we could then make Marc Jackson into a power forward to backup Chris Webber. He has a pretty decent mid to short range jumper so he would be capable of getting points if he was given the ball in the lane or in the short corner. I don?t know if he will be waived or if the 76ers would even consider this option, but I was looking at his contract, and since we are out of the running for Steven Hunter. I figured why not get peoples opinion on this possibly happening. I know it's a toss up between him and Derek Anderson in Portland for who they should waive, because of their contracts so should this happen who knows.
I think Derek Anderson will be cut, which also wouldnt be a bad pickup for the Sixers as well. Theo would be nice, but seriously Anderson is the one most talked about to be cut. Potland Jailbreakers dont have front court if they drop Theo as well.
I think that would be a longshot, not a bad idea but it would definitely be hard to get him. The Blazers will probably end up keeping him because he can still play.
