Just something I threw together for fun, thought it would be interesting to make some moves with The Knicks roster to help Larry's chances... Move 1: The Knicks Trade: G Nate Robinson, F Tim Thomas, 2nd Round Pick/Cash Memphis Trades: G Jason Williams & G/F Mike Miller Jason Williams and Mike Miller have LONG TERM DEALS, The Memphis Grizzlies don't want either of them, on the court or on the payroll. Jason Williams is still owed $24.8 Million Dollars over the next three years and Mike Miller will earn $41.25 Million Dollars over the next 5 Years. However this deal would not only send Memphis a prospect point guard in Nate, but they would receive Tim Thomas's contract which expires at the end of the season. Saving The Memphis Franchise $27 Million Dollars over the next 5 Seasons and allowing them to become impact players on the Free Agent Market next summer. Makes sense for both sides... -------------- Move 2: The most complicated trade of the bunch, but follow along, it makes pretty good sense in my opinion. Now Imagine. The Knicks are looking to follow up on their trade that aquired Point Guard Jason Williams. Sacramento is looking to fill the HUGE hole left in their roster at Power Foward after trading Chris Webber. The Utah Jazz are looking to move Carlos Boozer. Here we go, it works salary wise and benefits all parties in my opinion. The Knicks Receive: C Brad Miller (Kings) G Gordan Giricek (Jazz) The Kings Receive: F Carlos Boozer (Jazz) 1st Round Pick (Knicks) The Jazz Receive: G Stephon Marbury (Knicks) -------------- Move 3: The Knicks Trade: F Malik Rose, G Jamal Crawford, F Mike Miller The Wizards Trade: F Antawn Jamison & C Etan Thomas The Wizards would gain depth throughout the roster, and fill all holes in their starting lineup. Following the loss of Larry Hughes, more scoring would be needed. Certainly Malik, Crawford, and Miller would be more than capable of filling that role offensively. Gilbert Arenas, Jamal Crawford, Mike Miller, Malik Rose, Brendan Haywood. Sixth Man: Kwame Brown (unless traded for Caron Butler). -------------- Move 4: The Knicks Trade: C Jerome James The Cavs Trade: G Eric Snow Larry Brown would love to have Eric Snow back on one of his rosters. They worked so well together with the 76ers Franchise, and Brown loves to have that leadership on the floor as much as possible. The Cavs would upgrade in size and more importantly move Snow's long term contract. -------------- ***The New York Knicks REVISED Roster*** PG: Jason Williams (Eric Snow/Penny Hardaway) SG: Quentin Richardson (Allan Houston) SF: Antawn Jamison (Gordan Giricek/Trevor Ariza) PF: Channing Frye (Mike Sweetney/Maurice Taylor) C: Brad Miller (Etan Thomas/Jerome Williams) ------------ Summary: Solid Role Players and SUPER Bench. The ability of this roster is amazing. Brad Miller can do so many things from The Center Postion, mid-range jumpshot or high post passing, he's very unique. Channing Frye does a little bit of everything well, only time will tell though how he fares as a professional. Even if that route does reach a dead end, Mike Sweetney's potential hasn't yet been given up on. Antawn Jamison defines unique. Three Pointers, Post ups, Penetration, Isolation, it doesn't matter. He's versatility alongside the rest of these players would be remarkable. Q-Rich, 3-Point machine, he would provide most of the long range threats. Jason Williams is a solid point guard who can pass the ball well and score if needed, He's like Stephon-Lite. The Bench is a whole other story. Tough players like Maurice Taylor, Etan Thomas, Jerome Williams, and Eric Snow would provide a certain ruggedness that The Knicks haven't seen since the Early 90s. Penny and Snow would provide solid shooting along with their leadership capabilites, extensions of the coach yet their on the floor, very important on all championship teams. Their experience and knowledge of the game can do nothing but help this franchise. Houston and Giricek would provide most of the shooting off the bench. Houston could easily become a 6th Man of The Year front runner if he could remain healthy and contribute like he normally does. Every Great bench has that standout player, H20 could be that guy. Sweetney and Ariza are question marks. You don't know what your going to get from them, but any contributions are accepted and worth while. They could develop into solid NBA starters, Sweetney especially, but only time will tell.
Always good to have ideas thrown around, but i dont see any of those happening realistically. Washington's not gunna want that many bad contracts, Williams is certainly NOT the PG LB wants in a Knicks uniform, let alone starting. Sloan would request to be humainly put down if he saw Marbury walk into the locker room. The Cavs trade is the most realistic, but i still dont see it happening. They can find a better trade to unload Snow without taking on a overpaid, aging bigman with a very very questionable heart and work ethic.
Move 2 doesn't work and I don't believe that the Jazz or Sacramento would want to do those trades. 1. The Jazz have Howard Eisley and Deron Williams at the point. 2. Sacramento would have no center, because Ostertag is being traded. Amazing trade for the Knicks though. Move 3 It would really downgrade their big men. From a deadly combo of Haywood/Etan/Jamison to just Malik Rose/Haywood. Move 4 The Cavs would do that trade in a heartbeat, they don't seem satisfied with an old snow, and he seems to be getting slower with age. I think it would be a bad trade for the knicks though.

Not to mention they would unload Boozer which was seemingly the direction the team was headed in towards the end of the season. Sacramento has another center, his name is Brian Skinner, and he's shown potential and in my opinion would flourish in The Kings system and style of play. For instance, just look at his production when Brad Miller was out and he was awarded the minutes. From March 1st to March 19th, Skinner was on the floor for 30+ Minutes in 9 out of the 10 games played during that stretch. During that time period he averaged 12.4 PPG, 10.5 RPG, and 2.7 BPG. Skinner is a tough, rugged, hussle player who slightly differs from Brad Miller. I do believe Skinner alongside Boozer on the frontline for Sacramento would give this franchise a more physical lineup, especially with Kenny Thomas and Corliss Williamson coming off the bench. Not trying to say the trade would occur, just saying Sacramento would ALSO benefit in my opinion. As for The Washington deal, I could understand how losing Jamison could hurt their roster, but in terms of their frontline he's not really a force. He does grab rebounds and does do some post work, but for the most part he's more of a guard/foward like an Antoine Walker. Adding a guy like Malik Rose would give them more of a traditional look and add championship experience to their lineup. Not to mention the scoring slack that was created by the loss of Larry Hughes would be picked up by Mike Miller (13.4 PPG/50% FG) and Jamal Crawford (17.7 PPG). So think about this. For Antawn Jamison's 19.6 PPG and just 7.6 Rebounds your getting 3 starters who on average will add 38.1 Point Per Game.
Utah wouldn't trade for Stephon Marbury when they drafted there future PG in Deron Williams. Also, why would the Cavs want Jerome James? He has a long term bloated contract and is just plain not good.
