Seeing how this is just a rumor, I'm giving it no credibility, especially when recently an "official" signing was proved to be false. However, it seems like the trade would be for Eddie Jones, who the Grizzlies have pursued over the last few years. I know West drafted him when he was with the Lakers, so that would make a little bit of sense to me, but I don't see why the Grizzlies need another Shooting Guard. They essentially have a better, younger, cheaper version of Eddie Jones in Mike Miller. I've also heard Earl Watson and Damon Stoudamire's names mentioned, and it would make sense to me if a sign-and-trade went down to send Stoudamire to Memphis and Watson to Portland. Another possibility is getting Mark Blount along with Eddie Jones and sending out Lorenzen Wright in the proccess. I'd rather have Lorenzen Wright over Mark Blount nine times out of ten, but if Wright is serious in his trade demands, then at least we'd be getting a legit Center in return and wouldnt be stuck starting... Curtis Borchardt ().
If this rumor is true, then HOOORAYY FOR MIAMII!!! NEXT CHAMP. IS OURS!!! J-will, d-wade, shaq=amazing.

The Heat should be the new Suns (except with a presence on the boards). Hopefully Van Gundy doesn't try to slow him down and try to make him play under complete control like Brown and Fratello did, because there is no player in the NBA that is more fun to watch than Jason Williams when he's given the freedom to play the style of basketball he excels at, and when you add Dwyane Wade to the mix, you're going to get one hell of a nightly highlight reel.
I agree Voodoo, but sometimes I think Williams gets too riled up and plays too out of control. Sometimes he'll settle for a bit too many jumpers, and I think he can shoot you into or out of a game at times.

If this is the Eddie Jones for James Posey and Jason Williams deal I saw on hoopshype, Memphis is gonna get a bad deal, but they'll still have an OK Team. Stoudemire, Jones, Gasol, Jackson, Wright?, who knows. I don't see playoffs just yet.
Miamiis a big winner in this trade, they get a big need at pg, but I don't know how he can co- exist with Shaq and Wade wanting the ball every possesion. How is Posey on defense? He is replacing a great defender in Eddie Jones.
This would be great for Miami. I think them and the spurs would be the favorites for the championship if this went down.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting miamiballa12:</div><div class="quote_post">This would be great for Miami. Talent wise its one way, but Eddie played his heart out and has been leading the heat for a while. I think its a terrible trade for Memphis, they lose more talent, and receive a player who will most likely be unhappy because he isn't playing for the Heat anymore.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GiantMidget:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont understand this. You enjoy watching him at Memphis more than you did when he was with the Kings?Preposterous...</div> I never said I've enjoyed watching him more in Memphis. I've just become a fan of his since I've gotten to see him play so much. As for the question of James Posey's defense, he's a much better defender than Eddie Jones. In fact, the last time he played a healthy season was in 2004, and he was two votes away from making the All-Defensive second team. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">2003-04 NBA ALL-DEFENSIVE FIRST TEAM Position Player, Team Points 1st Votes Forward Ron Artest, Indiana 54 (26) Forward Kevin Garnett, Minnesota 40 (16) Center Ben Wallace, Detroit 48 (21) Guard Bruce Bowen, San Antonio 41 (18) Guard Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers 31 (13) 2003-04 NBA ALL-DEFENSIVE SECOND TEAM Position Player, Team Points 1st Votes Forward Andrei Kirilenko, Utah 36 (11) Forward Tim Duncan, San Antonio 33 (10) Center Theo Ratliff, Portland 28 (7) Guard Doug Christie, Sacramento 25 (5) Guard Jason Kidd, New Jersey 15 (3) Other players receiving votes, with point totals (First Team votes in parentheses):<font size="3"> James Posey, Memphis, 13 (4); </font> </div> Since when is Posey thrown into this trade anyway? I know he had an off year, but he was injured. When he was healthy in 2004, he was hands down the second best player on the team behind Pau Gasol. I don't understand why Eddie Jones commands more than Jason Williams in a trade. If it were up to me, I wouldn't trade Jason Williams for Eddie Jones straight up, and now we're throwing in our second best player (arguable) for him? This makes no sense, and I highly doubt that anyone would be stupid enough to make that deal. There's also no need for Eddie Jones. We have Mike Miller, and Miller is better, younger, and cheaper than Eddie Jones. So with that considered, I don't see why Jerry West is so eager to get Jones that he'd throw away two of his four best players to get him.
I Agree completly with Voodoo's statement above..Posey can be a force for the grizzlies when not hamperd by injuries...I neither can find a plausible reason for giving both J-will and Posey other then trying to match up contracts or memphis gain more money by losing Williams and Posey.
