A more likely casualty if King utilizes the so-called tax amnesty rule would be veteran guard Aaron McKie, who is slated to earn $6 million this season."</div>

It doesn't really effect the team that much other than not having to pay luxury tax. It doesn't really relieve cap space or anything so it wouldn't help in signing free agents.

I saw this coming. Personally, I feel he is over paid he was not being over paid when he received the contract. However, with all the injuries he has had it has really slowed him down. In essence he is a shell of his former self on the basketball court. All those things said I would keep him. He is still a great asset in the community, and a good guy to tutor Green and Igoudala on their games. King might choose to waive him however because we do have the fourth highest pay role in the league so our luxury tax will be pretty high. Getting Mckie off the roster would help lower that tremendously.

I am 50/50 right now about this. Mckie on one hand is a veteran leader who the young gaurds need. On the other hand, he is over the hill. Perhaps take the gamble on keeping him, and hope last year was a fluke, and he can be back to par like he was two years ago.

I'm hoping we just waive him then resign him to like a vets minimum or something. He's a great vocal leader in the locker room and seems to be an important aspect of our young player's development. I'd say he'd likely want to resign with us just because he came from Philly and might want to retire here.

Mckie is solid but lets face it he is not worth 6 million a year. I think even he should know that by now, King made a mistake by giving him such a big deal in his 6th man type days. I think he can still play though, I wonder if the 76ers could waive him with the new clause then resign him to a lesser contract.

You can't re-sign him after you use the amnesty clause on him until his contract expires.
