<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Johnson told several people that being a third option on the Suns was "unacceptable." He reportedly resented teammates' star treatment and disliked Amar? Stoudemire after a March halftime incident in Miami. After Dwyane Wade's 19-point half, Stoudemire barked at Johnson in front of the team: "Are you going to play any (expletive) defense?" Stoudemire got seven shots in the next game and then sat out two with ankle inflammation. Johnson played his best ball after that but told friends he would never re-sign.</div> Source
Well I don't blame JJ. If Stoudemire is going to be a prick towards him I wouldn't re-sign either. Stoudemire shouldn't act like that.
I also dont blame JJ. Hes not going to play for a team containing players that are disrespectful to him, i respect that.

I see this as a heat of the moment thing in which Amare was trying to embrace the role of leader by trying to light a fire under him. He resented that, because he felt he was just as big a part of the team as Amare, and did not deserve to be talked down to. In part it all goes back to wanting to run the team something he wanted. Something Amare did.

To me that's not embracing your teammates.
^ i agree. JJ is a very talented defender that doesn't take plays off. he was probally doing his best, but when D-wade is on fire, nobody can stop him.
That isn't disrespect, thats called trying to win a game. Thats pathetic if he can't take it, he is a grown man. If he got upset over that he needs to leave, he is to caught up in this respect crap. If you play well you get respect. I don't care if it is impossible to stop him, it is a problem and problems are addressed at half-time. If someone said that to me and I was getting lit up like he was, I wouldn't need to hear it I would have already thought it. But hearing it would make me try harder and I would go out and give it my all. Does he think he will get respect going from championship contenders to the Hawks? Look win a championship=respect High School football coaches say worse things than that, my gym teacher did.
yea if Stoudemire is gonna be that way then JJ should leave. I think JJ is good enough to be a first or second option for the Hawks. He's definately not a third option though.

Thats getting your point across in a disrespectful manner. Cursing makes you sound like authority commanding something Amare aint no coach hes a player if he wants to tell his teamate advice then you do that but not in a manner that would put someone down. I understand he was caught up in the heat of an intense game but i mean Johnson is the hardest working defender on the Suns so for a guy to curse at him telling him to play better D on an unstoppable player IS disrespectful. Also Johnson its not like he went after that crying never talkin to Amare ever again no he kept playing even harder and correct me if im wrong but he became a better player as the season went along.
I can't believe JJ is so sentimental. That was little thing you don't have to switch teams because your leader yells at you, that should have motivated JJ. And it seems like it did because he played his best basketball after that.

Are you going to play some defense? it some how would have been better motivation? People curse all time time to motivate teammates, and themselves. If JJ can?t take it that?s his own problem, but to say he new he was not going to resign with the Suns after that moment is just whining. Like Jpas said he is a grown man if he can?t take that it makes me question how emotionally tough he is. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting The Turth5:</div><div class="quote_post">Cursing makes you sound like authority commanding something Amare aint no coach hes a player if he wants to tell his teamate advice then you do that but not in a manner that would put someone down. I do not think Amare should be the guy to give people advice on playing defense. However, he is trying to be a motivational leader. I would rather him talk like that, and see he the fire that he wants to win. Then just have him be quite, and not be frustrated. Stars are known for calling out teammates to perform better Dirk to Dampier in the playoffs, Walker to the Celtics when they made the biggest come back in NBA history against the Nets, hell even Delonte West to the Celtics summer league team. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Thetruth5:</div><div class="quote_post">Also Johnson its not like he went after that crying never talkin to Amare ever again no he kept playing even harder and correct me if im wrong but he became a better player as the season went along.</div> So if he got better after Amare said this doesn?t that show he motivated him some how? Light the fire inside him to perform better or if nothing else proves Amare wrong? I hear a lot worse than that on my sports teams.

....but Stoudemire doesn't play defense himself, how can he be screaming at someone else to play defense
^^ exactly so for someone to tell the only player on that team who plays defense (johnson) and curses at him telling him to play D IS DISRESPECTFUL!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">....but Stoudemire doesn't play defense himself, how can he be screaming at someone else to play defense </div> yeah lol, I dont blame JJ for being mad.
Well yea i guess it was amare's fault but im sure it was because they were losing and amare was frustrated...it happens to friends like in the palace when ben wallace choked artest for fouling...ben was really frustrated but artest just took it cause they're good friends so it was kinda jj's fault too that he couldnt just take it
